Any ideas for restless legs

I've had restless legs on and off for a couple of years. This weekend has been horrendous. Am on amiltryptiline which frankly isn't helping. Even now lying here I can sense it's going to be a long night. To be fair I've been inactive today which I expect ecsaserbates it but even when actve it can flare up. Help?!

Amitryptiline will aggravate if not cause RLS.  Alot of anti-depressants will but especially the amitryptiline.  So will benedryl, other antihistimines tagamet, zantac, Pepcid AC and calcium channel blockers.  Possibly also statins and steroids.  I only get RLS when I take one of the aforementioned.  I intend to try the blackstrap as soon as I an episode.  Good luck.

    hi there

everyone is different .so what works for me might not work for you.So you can try Blackstrap molases no added sugar or sulphates.1 tablespoon in a cup of boiling water sip before bedtime.Or take Radical Magnesium with D3, calcuim and K2.K 2 a solal make.or you can try Solgar;s K2.The best other alternative is Vit E all natural not the synthetic one.I do not have high blood pressure so use the 500iu from Vitaforce .I take 2 with th Radical Mag,D3 and K2 with two teaspoons of Cod liver oil.U need oil to absorb the D3.I also cut out sweets and cakes after two pm as well as starches. I try to eat  supper early as 5pm .

If the legs are waking you in the night afte taking Molaases and Mag and calcium just take another tablespoon of molasses  in boiling water and remember to brush your teeth.Hopes this helps .Would love tohear your results.Blessings

oh about the Vit E, If you do have high blood pressure start off on a very low dosage of E--50iu and build up to 500iu.It is good for  the arteries and the heart as well as treats restless legs.

I had RLS for over 16 years, drove me mad. Couldn't sit down in the evening and woke me up on bed. I now take 2 x dihydrocodeine tablets 30mg each at tea time and now have no symptoms. If I forget to take tablets fidgety legs come back, but then take tablets and within half an hour symptoms disappear. Has worked for over 3 years now. Hope this helps.

Thank you all. I need to go back to my GP I think. I wonder if being a bit under the weather. Headaches and a bit stressed is making it worse?

It is good to discuss it. Hope you don't mind me asking how old you are? I'm 43 and had it a few years. My GP was quite sympathetic and said try the amiltryptiline which seemed to work. But really bad this last week. I've had to get up in the night and walk around. Shattered! X

I'm 64 and suffered this for years!! I'm told it's because I smoke but I'm sure not all sufferers smoke! I was in Spain last year and couldn't sleep in same bed as husband, up wandering all night and day, when I came back I went to doctor and said I'm gonna

do something silly unless you listen to me and finally she payed attention but she thought I was depressed! If I was it was due to RLS and no sleep!!

I smoke too. If you smoke you get blamed girl everything that happens to you! No sleep is the pits. It is depressing. I know how you feel x
