Best thing is to try and stay as calm as possible. Make sure u have books and mags and crosswords to pass the time while waiting and after. Phone with games on - make sure u have charger - great time passing aid. Deep breathing for nerves.

    Hi Tracey

Very glad you have been enjoying the weekend.  As Zena has recommended, being as calm as possible helps the healing process, and my Consultant swears by this, and helps saying to me do what you have to do but ...... stay calm, meditate, go shopping, watch a film, play and cuddle your lovely dogs, write in your journal of your hysterectomy journey (so you can see your improvements day by day) get drunk if you have to but ........ calm is the way to go.  If your head is right, the rest of the body follows through!  Good luck for Wednesday Tracey, you will soon be on the road to complete recovery.

As the others have said, calm is the way to go, easier said than done I know that for sure, I was a jibbering wreck but somehow the day before and on the actual day I found calmness, I don't know how or why but I'm not complaining!

Make sure you pack some peppermint sweets to suck, good for the sore throat and to help bring up your wind, I got some peppermint cumbles from the £1 shop, worked a treat. Also a small pot of honey, this is to help if you have a sore thoat following GA and/or the tubes down your throat. When you get home lots of rest and plenty of water, I got dehydrated on my first day home, really lightheaded, it was horrible so ensure you follow this one. Hope all goes well and I wish you a full and speedy recovery xx

Hi Tracey, I am 13 days post op. My top tips would be, big comfy knickers, jogging bottoms and slip on pumps or trainers (you wont want to bend forward to tie laces)

Its normal for you to feel the way you are,try not to feel anxious, its really not as bad as you are expecting it to be. I woke from surgery completely pain free due to having a spinal before I went to sleep. The pain didn't hit till the day after, then it was controlled by Codeine & Paracetamol.

    Good luck!

Peppermint tea good for wind. Arnica 30c from herbal shop good for healing bruised tissues. Maybe get iron levels checked via blood test to ensure at optimum levels before surgery as it will deplete them a bit. Def rest after surgery and take things slowly. Accept all help...!! Eat healthily - fresh fruit, veg or juice them be even better to get vitamins into you. Nap when needed.
