I was told they aren’t that successful. Stones can still be produced.

yes ..stones can be reproduced, but i came across a research journal which seems very promising where stones were dissolved within 15 months completely and completely no pain and even for  low gb functioning   and also the medicine has to be taken regularly even after stone dissolving, don't we think it is better than surgery ?

biliarydyskines ===  don't take any notice of any one who says ursodioxycholic acid tabs will not dissolve gall stones because ursodioxycholic acid does dissolve stones of certain type so it needs to be clinically confirmed

what type of stones the patient has.

I had horrendous symptoms as well as other clinical problems disasociated with my gallstones which were mostly calcium and uric acid. I had 5 stones  largest 17mm approx. after a year two stones remained

largest 10mm but the main benefit was/ is  no operation and no symptoms.

I stopped taking 'Urso' because I started a two months course of antibiotics which eradicated other problems I had.........   To those who are thinking the antibiotic cured the symptoms of gallstones , which is no antibiotics do not dissolve gall stones.

By the way be wary of some of the experts re livers and gall bladders because a registrar of the eminent

surgeon who confirmed the positive re ursodioxycholic acid and gave me a script for that drug his registrar thought otherwise and said " I havn't heard of that one --- the only thing to do is to remove your gall bladder"   It is obvious some will not learn & yet the internet is full of info but of course not all the info is the truth or correct but if one searches and methodically and coupled  with a good and experienced doctor the urso may avoid an operation.

Think most gallstones are comprised of cholesterol ?? Surely all these people can’t be having surgery if it’s unnecessary and as simple as taking meds to dissolve them? It would be cheaper just to give them meds. Cost of surgery is enormous. Speak to your doc or surgeon about it. Let us know if you choose to go down that path and how you’re getting on.

I can't rememeber if I mentioned in my post about Ursodioxycholic acid that a registrar told me in a consultation with her that a cholosystectomy (removal of gall bladder) was the only cure for my gallstones!  She could not have been more incorrect and it is astonishing to me that her Tutor Surgeon

who is highly thought of in the Gastric circles as a thinking surgeon has a learner in his remit who does not know a thing about the dissolution of gall stones with ursodioxycholic acid tablets on prescription.

However my GP prctice would not give me a script for them diespite a letter from that surgeon confirming I was to be given a script fo Urso. Another letter from him confirmed his lady Registrar was wrong and he stated that Ursodioxycholic acid will dissolve cholesterol type stones. He gave me the first scrip & then my GPs had to repeat them after.

This seems underline the question is this down to money?  In the USA I see that Urso is prescribed widely. Some patients find it hard to take it but liver function testing before and during treatment is a

must ( more money)  the excuse from the GP's is that it is not proven to work ( a blatant lie) = I thought all mediacal practitioners were 'candid' & had to tell the truth these days since 2014 = do me a favor please? or in other words pull the other one.

One 'item' I have learned re the statement the specialists write when a diagnosis is arrived at & that is

" no significant scarring is seen to exist". This is I am told because these medical specialists do not want to expose themselves to being sued!  This seems apparent in their learning what to write from at least 1976 to the present.......... Cleaver.
