Hi again, just got back online
I was taking pregabelin for epilepsy but my neurologist discontinued it due to side effects.
I try to use the techniques I have suggested and they do help. Having epilepsy is a contraindication to lots of drugs especially anti depressants.
You sound a very strong determined person and I am sure that you will be alright. I have some agoraphobia as well. It is a sort of anxiety but there is help available for this condition as well, The mere thought of leafing the house throws me into panic mode sometimes.
Keep strong you are getting there.

If you have tried a lot of different medications eventually they can run out of medications to give, especially if they are unable to back track to an older medication you have tried and not accepted.
If I am wrong sorry, all I know from been spoilt for choice does not take that long to having no choice.
Have you in the past felt one of introduced medications was better than most that were introduced to you ??

I am 66 years old now and Chronically Disabled. It took Pain Clinic, Rhmatologist and CPN with a Trick Cyclist two years to balance my medications. They seem to all function well together now and it ust took time. I suffer problems with various groups of medications and that really effects my Specialist because they are unable to put me into remission. I have to accept a remission when my body is able to cope?.
There may be something they can mix together or if it is for Mental Health problems Bunker Injections may help.
Your Anxiety sounds bad, have you tried Mindfulness, that may help you. Have words with your GP

Benzodiazepines should be used only as a short term medication… During these two years your body has adapted to lorazepam and this is the most likely reason why it does not work anymore. You need a professional advice; it is likely that you won’t be able to quit lorazepam anytime soon as your nervous system became dependant on it.
Have you tried other drugs with an anti-anxiety profile? Sertraline? Paroxetine? These can be taken safely for a long period of time, even for many years if needed. If SSRIs did not work, another option would be to consider using either tricyclic antidepressants or MAO inhibitors – but medications belonging to these groups have more serious side effects and should be prescribed only by a psychiatrist. I would recommend seeing a pdoc and be open about your concerns. It may get some time, but you will eventually find a drug that works for you. Everybody does

You have not mentioned any MAO inhibitor in your previous posts. These are older drugs that have been around for 60 years or so but they remain underprescribed these days as their safety profile is not as good as that of modern antidepressants. Taking into account that even benzodiazepines no longer work in your case, I would try one of these, or at least suggest it to the psychiatrist. The first drug to try would be selegiline. It has a form of transdermal patches that you apply on your skin once per day. The trade name of the medication in Emsam – at least in UK and US. If this did not work, the next medication to try would normally be phenelzine (Nardil), which is one of the last resort medications in the treatment of depression and anxiety. However, this would require you to follow a very strict diet, whereby common food ingredients (cheese, beer, cured meet) and the majority of cold medications available otc could trigger a potentially lethal adverse reaction (hypertensive crisis). Despite the associated risks, these drugs are far more effective than any SSRI and are still used in non-responsive patients. Maybe this is something to talk about with your pdoc?

I have been on lorazepam since Oct 2009
I used it when I have a panic attack but never had to take it anymore after feb 2010
But just recently in March I had a really bad panic attack and so I took it.
I had another one a week after that and took it again.
I only take it as needed, even though the bottle says 2x a day as needed.
I've always been able to control my anxiety with breathing, chamomile tea and drinking water but I've had so much going on these last few months I think is what stirred it up.
Then after those episodes in March the doc wanted to try me on Paxil daily when I took the dose for the first time I had a panic attack that night.
I don't want to take anything else other than lorazepam. I am finally meeting with a therapist on the 15th hopefully they can help me control this again coz it's just hard everyday, feels like it's happening every day- not panic attacks just the anxiety and it debilitating me from doing what I want to do. I am a wife and a mother of 3 I want my life back!!!
I hope things will get better for you.

Thyroid disease is often put down to mental health problems and the patient suffers needlessly. I feel it is worth checking out also vitamin D deficiency disorder and Vit B12 deficiency.
Take care Jane xx
