Any other women have bleeding with their UTIs?

HI all,

Just wondering how many women have bleeding with their UTIs? I am on antibiotics (Nitrofurantoin) for this right now.

I've only had a handful of UTIs in my life (53 now) but they always seem to present with stinging, pelvic ache and blood in urine. Maybe I'm missing the warning signs as the infection develops and not getting to the GP soon enough.

It seems like lots of people do not get bleeding so wanted to hear from anyone else who has had this as a symptom as it can be alarming.

Yes I have bled but only once, it cleared up quickly after going on antibiotics, are you bleeding much? mine was only on toilet paper after wiping and then only a small amount, if you are bleeding anymore than spotting , second thought even if only a small amount go and see a doctor just to be safe.

Thanks Phoebe, not a lot of blood but visible in urine sample. It stopped after first day of antibiotics.

Just keep an eye on it, don't hesitate to go back to docs if it gets worse, I had endometrial cancer a while back, I had ignored all the signs, but going by what you have said it does sound as if your blood was all to do with your UTI which is what happened with my UTI and it scared the heck out of me to start with, (uti happened 4 years after surgery for the above) all was ok though.

      Take care

      Phoebe.

      HI Phoebe,

Sorry to hear you've had to go through all that. I hope you are better now.

My sample came back positive for infection and has responded to antibiotics so my doc seems sure the bleeding is just to do with the infection.

I had a similar infection to this six years ago and a few in my youth - every time I passed blood in the urine. I don't know why it takes me this way. I will keep an eye on it though.

      Thanks x

yes i always get bleeding RUTH and mine go straight to full blown red blood that looks like you are peeing blood

i was about the same age as you when i first started getting uti and they have been a constant pain since

i try to avoid antibiotics as they will stop working and grow immune

The one you are taking now affects your liver as i found out when given it for third time

you need to buy D MANNOSE

Its the only thing that works

it a sugar base that sticks to ECOIL and removes it from bladder

i take 1 morning and night fir prevention i was on antibiotics every 3 months before i took it

    i have had repeated looks

into my bladder via camera and

its fine all healthy so dont worry about the blood

my doctor used to explain that infection in bladder is like

open wound and will bleed untill infection cleared.

    hope this helps xx

      HI Karjoe,

Thanks for info. Sorry you've had to suffer recurrent UTIs.

Like you, mine have gone straight to stinging and bleeding before I noticed there was a problem though in hindsight I did have aching and urgent urination for a few days before but ignored it.

I'm on the last day of Nitrofurantoin - it's made me feel terrible with nerve pain, spaciness, fluey and severe aching in legs, hips and lower back. I will be glad to finish it.

Blood has stopped now so I'm hoping infection has cleared and the other symptoms are just from antibiotics.

I had read about D-mannose but never tried it so I've just bought some. Thanks for recommendation. I don't want these UTIs to become a regular thing.

      Hope you are doing ok.
