Any point in raising my sertraline dosage from 50mg?

Hi again everyone, I have a quick question. I've been on 50mg sertraline now for close to 3 weeks for GAD. It seems to be helping my anxiety a lot, not 100% but enough to where I'm noticing quite the difference. I know 50mg is a low dose so should I raise it higher or stay where I'm at for a while since I feel it's helping already with my anxiety? Don't really know what to do here, any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

if your seeing a lot of benefits after only 3 weeks I personally wouldn’t up the dose I would stick with it. 😃

Thank you Ondrea, I think that's what I'm going to do, I was just curious because I see so many people raising there doses every few weeks it seems, and since this is my first time on sertraline I wasn't sure what to do. Thank you again

    Hi Joe,

I’m pleased to tell you that I take  stertraline for panic/anxiety. I was on 25 ml for a month then upped it to 50 ml over 2 weeks  ago. For me, I found the med really kicked in a couple days ago. I too was just on the edge of having a panic attack 2 weeks ago. Three days ago a calmness came over me and I’m still feeling it. A centered calmness I have not felt in years! I was diagnosed with SVT and I’m now convinced  the fast heart beat is also tied to my anxiety because since the calmness started I’ve not had any SVT fast heart rate, period. I’ve had reason to be stressed and yet I am completely calm. I’ve noticed since to calm started my energy level is a bit lower, but I’ll take that side effect any day over panic attacks. I’m still dealing with blurry vision, occasional sweat and dry mouth. I’m sleeping so well, I take the med as I get up in the morning. Best luck, I hope you feel the Zen (don’t laugh) like calmness I have. x kat

Hi Kat, first I'm so happy to hear your having such success on the sertraline, I too have that sence of calmness that your referring to, it's like I still know I have problems and issues in my life but I'm just not that worried about it anymore and for me that's a good thing. I also still have a few lingering side effects as well like upset stomach issues, sometimes a little bit of tremors and slight anxiety but that's usually in the mornings and only last a few minutes now. Thanks for telling me your story you have made me feel very hopeful that this medicine is going to be a success!! Have a wonderful day
