    Hi, dodo81786,

I'm sure you will find a multitude of success testimonials via the net. It has been said that Zoloft works better for panic attacks than depression. I originally began taking Zoloft for panic attacks about 15 years ago. I had been having panic attacks several times a week for years. I was nearly housebound from the panic. The Zoloft stopped them dead in their tracks. So, I still take Zoloft to this day. However, now 15 years later, I've been suffering from severe depression, and the Zoloft seems to be having a marginal effect combating my depression. My dosage has recently been increased to 175mg from about from 125mg, but even after taking Zoloft for 15 years, the side effects from increasing my dosage have been unbearable, mostly extreme fatigue..

i started  sertraline 50mg back in march 2015, i hated it for the symptoms it causes, 6-8 weeks struggle, dose upped to 100mg at around 8 weeks i think, also given 40mg propanolol 2x a day, today i fell so much better,in fact i would say 90%, laughing, going out, no symptoms specialy the dam nausea which was the worse symptom for me, dizzy all gone, thoughts virtually non existant, so ye sertraline and i guess with the propanolol as made my life so much better.it's tough the first weeks, some are fine aftre just 2 weeks but you will find even after 2 months you will get the odd bad day, but the more time passes the better it gets.i lost intrest in everything didnt want to be here, and now it's all flooding back.guess i couldn't have managed without meds.

Hi folks, I was prescribed Sertraline in June 2015 ( was cross tapered from Seroxat ) this was a truly horrible experience but after about a month on Sertraline 200mg my panic attacks were much better my mood lifted and life became more bearable, I never went out was to to scared so was virtually housebound and of course the added phobias that come with it makes it harder but I can from personal experience say hang in there you may need to have your dose adjusted or something extra to go along side the Sertraline ( I take Valium ) to help you through . I'm not sure of the severity of your depression /panic attacks as we're all different, if you could or would like to share more then please do as there would more than likely be someone who would be able to give more advice . I hope your feeling better soon it's a tough ride that not everyone understands but at least you know your not alone in this forum. Xx

Hello Dodo you don't say how long you have been on the Setraline but it is the first month at least that is the hardest because of the side effects. If you can get through that you can consider yourself a strong person for toughing it out. A lot give up in the early days as it is a rollercoaster. I have been on sertraline since the beginning of November for severe anxiety and panic attacks, the just came out of the blue I have no idea why. The sertraline did make it worse before it got better and I am much better now. No panic attacks or anxiety, I'm as cheerful and positive as I used to be. You still get the odd downer day but that's it, everything else is fine. I hope you start to get better on them soon.

Hi Tracy, I've been taking it since October 2015 was on 50mgs and today my forth day on 100mgs .

I worry too much bout not being able to sleep at night as I had it at the beginning. All my worries is about the things that reminds me of the start of my pain attack ( places , sleep time etc ..) but in general I feel better than first started .

Hi Dodo, the increase to 100mg may increase the side effects for a period until your body becomes accustomed to the new dosease. I know what you mean about not being able to sleep, mine has been ok the last week or so but I do manage to sleep till about 2 or 3 am then wake up, sometimes I get back to sleep other times I don't. I find the best thing to do is empty my mind and not start thinking about things, this really helps. I had panic attacks and severe anxiety I have never been so scared or felt so ill in my life but now much better thanks to the Sertraline.

Hi Dodo, me too. I had only taken anti depressants 'seroxat'i think it was when I had severe post.natal.depression when I had my kids 1996 and 2002. I have never been on anything else till now, in all honesty it's not really surprising I've had a lot to contend with but I'm back on track and back to my old self again and you can be too. Continue on the meds and count every day as a step nearer to feeling better. You will get there but in the meantime try to focus your mind on other things and keep yourself busy, this really does help believe me

No worries Dodo just try and keep track of how long you have been on the increased dose - if you don't notice any difference or are feeling worse in the next few weeks go and see your Doc again. Did the 50mg not work, is that why the Doc upped it?

I know you posted this a year ago I've been on SERTRALINE (Zoloft) for 29 days have felt like I'm going nuts .... Anxiety is much higher and has not ceased only increased. Could you check your bottle and tell me the name of the manufacturer you use and let me know pleaseeeeee. I ask because your story enlightens me ... I read some bad stuff on the manufacturer I use so I was hoping to find out who yours is??? It sucks I'm taking benzo meds now too just to handle anxiety increase from Zoloft / SERTRALINE. If you could please let me know who your manufacturer is shown on bottle. I don't know if I can handle increasing something making me worse and worse I'm at a crossroads.

      Hi Julie

I know it’s been a while since anyone has posted. I just stared Zoloft 50mg and Increased to 100 the following week ( doctor suggested ) my anxiety is literally sky high and my nausea is horrible. I can’t eat and hardly sleep. I am hoping by my 3rd week I will start to feel a little better. It’s really frustrating because I’ve been on this med before and I remember how wonderful I felt. Hope you’re feeling better also smile

I just started taking Zoloft on 25mg for the initial first week and start on 50mg the next week. The side effects are nausea, dizziness, slight agitation, restlessness (kinda like my skin is crawling), sleeping problems (I wake up around 3 -4 am), a total loss of apatite, and mental cloudiness. I know the side effects are only temporary because every so often I feel better for a few minutes during my day. That really gives me hope. I was put on the prescription for depression and a slight social anxiety. I know keeping with the medications going to be hard but I sure hope its worth it!

I've had a completely different experience. I was prescribed Prozac as a teenager, but never really kept up with it. Now as a 40 yr old, I've had irratability problems, depression and borderline anger issues, which I can't stand, I am a chill guy, I don't drink. I finally told my doc, I've been on Zoloft for about 2 weeks. I felt a positive effect within 30 min, I sleep like an angel, feel totally calm, creative, all the good " side" effects I've had. I still take a Xanax a few times a week for anxiety, but I'm hoping that need will disappear. I am grateful for this medicine, I was becoming an angry prick, for no reason, ( GAD) and so far, I am thrilled to feel like myself Again, if not better. Hang in there. I started with 25mg for 10 days now 50. ?? positive review.
