Any side effects when prednisone is increased?

Posted , 3 users are following.

Had my prednisone dose increased today.

Took 13 mg. at 5:00 AM and 6 hours later took 7 mg.

On top of the pain I already had I later developed a strong

burning pain in my lower back.  Is this a result of the increase?

Audrey, I doubt it, especially that soon.  It's probably due to stress building up around your appointment today.

I was extremely stressed and my BP usually normal was 165/82

Can stress be the cause of some PMR pain?

Stress can be enough to trigger a flare.  I hope you've got a nice, relaxing day planned for tomorrow.

It is just that normally people take the whole dose as one. Unless they find that the pred lasts for less than twenty four hours when they split the dose, so taking some in the morning and some in the evening.  You could try taking the whole dose together if you wanted to.

From now on I will be taking it as I usually did.  First thing in the morning around 5:30.
