    Hi wlee

Get yourself a bottle of bio oil. It is really good for scars. You can buy it in any chemist or superdrug or online. It is a good general purpose moisturiser for dry skin. I use it on my face as well.

    Bio oil is the stuff.

i had my stitches out last Wednesday- 10 days after my op.

it feels a bit weird  and tender on my incision scar when I apply the oil so I am leaving the application for another few days, but after that I will be slathering it on. biggrin

Even my husband used it when he had some moles removed.

Vitamin E oil is good, bio oil I hear is good, never tried it though to say yah or nay! O know I can't wait to work on mine! I have 2 scars! 😩

I purchased a bottle of Vitamin E capsules. Poke a hole in the capsule with a pin and squeeze out and rub into incision. Cheaper than Bio Oil.

I put mine on the scar, but please ensure the scar is fully healed before you start to apply it.

Does anyone else have dissolving sts and superglue? I'm 3 weeks post op and my scar is very dry & tight but I've been told to put nothing on it until it's totally healed. The superglue bits are rock hard. Hoping for a nurse appt this week at my gp to ask as it's driving me mad.

I ws glued and steri-strips put on, and was told to leave the strips on until they fell off.  The steri-strips did not come off in the shower so at 3 weeks I took them off myself since the incision was getting tight.  My surgeon did the lateral approach and my scar is about 11" long.  I used scarguard.  the brush on kind at 6 weeks.  To get it off you use scotch tape and it comes off nicely.  Its almost a year and the scar is now just a fine line.

    thanks,

      Hi Leah,

I too have the lateral incision, I am 11 days post op getting staples out today and then steri stripes till they fall off.  How did you like lateral cut? My cut is 10" 3/4 so about the same, I never heard of scarguard but I m in US it sounds pretty good! All the best to you!

      Hi Annette,

I always slept on my right side, but since my right side was operated on, I changed to the left side which I found difficult.  There were no restrictions as well with this approach.  My tip for you is that leave the strips on until they fall off...don't be like me and take them off yourself.  You might think that taking off the strips will help that "tight" feeling.  It won't.  The tight feeling is normal and caused by the shrinking of the scar.  I live north of the boarder in Canada.  If you do use scar guard, use the scotch tape to get it off.  I found this on an internet search.  The instructions say to pick it off (I think..it's been a while) and you don't want to be picking at your scar.  Good luck today.

      thanks,

      Leah
