Any thoughts on triple arthrodesis surgery?

Hi, I am 29 and have flat feet since I was a kid. It has gotten worse over the years. orthodic don't help much. I saw a foot doctor and he said that I would need triple arthrodesis ankle fusion surgery. I have lower back pain and can only walk at a normal pace for about 2 minutes till my ankles and shins hurt, then I take breaks in between. I know that  after the surgery i will not be able to move my foot much from left to right. What is the success rate for this procedure? Those who have gotten it done, would you say it was worth it.  I would like to be able to walk/jog long distances, swim, skateboard. Also, because my feet goes inwards, when I get the surgery done, will I also feel the pain in my knees (since i'm guessing it will straighten into place)?

Hi, I have not had a ankle fusion, but a lot of folk on this site have, with great success. Some of them are a lot older than you. Speak to your surgeon or even get a second opinion. You are still young so that also counts in your favour. Good luck and I hope you find your answers soon.

Did you decide to have the surgery and if so did you have good results? My Dr is wanting me to have this done but I'm 34 and not sure this is the best option.
