Any thoughts on what this might be?

Hi,
I'm new here and desperately searching for info about my problem.
It started about three months ago with a strange cool sensation in my throat/mouth. It wasn't bothersome at first, just odd.
Anyway, this progressed to become more of a burning sensation in both the base of my throat and my mouth (but more throat). I bought OTC meds (ranitidine and Gaviscon) but neither worked so I visited my GP. She suggested it might be silent reflux and gave me a month's supply of Lansoprazole. This didn't have any effect either so I returned to the GP and she ruled out acid reflux.
She ordered full blood tests (I'd been having a few random issues with things like dizziness, eye infections and generally being run down). the blood tests showed my TSH level was borderline raised and I'm going to have that retested in a few weeks.
The burning throat and mouth is still as bad, if not worse and I think it feels like acid (though cannot understand why acid reducing meds don't work).
I think I read somewhere that LPR/silent reflux doesn't respond to things like Lansoprazole or ranitidine, so that would make it hard to rule that out on the basis of those meds not working for me.
I'd be really interested to hear of other people's stories

Esomeprazole is the best ppi. But even when I take it I can sometimes get a bit of reflux. It depends what I have eaten or drank.
You have to be careful with your diet avoid fatty foods, caffeine, carbonated drinks, chocolate, acidic foods and drinks, sugar and alcohol for a week as well as taking ppis, see if there is an improvement. Smoking is really bad for reflux, if you smoke try and cut down and then quit. Now you don't have to give up all your favourite foods and drinks, but if you want to have some alcohol one night, maybe take an extra ppi to limit discomfort.
I used to take lanzoprazole, it is the cheapest and least effective ppi ask your doctor to change to esomeprazole.
