Dmard class medications are given quite reguar for PsA skin and bones. With Psoriasis you body can be attacked by your immune system DMARD drugs suppress the immune system and hopefully slow down the damage and allow a period of remmision.

You're not alone - I get the spots - didn't even know what they were till I saw the rheumatologist about my hip - and yes, I'm on MTX 20 mg s/c injection.

Hi Ferg
My best advice for immediate relief - ask your Dr for 2.5% hydrocortisone.
I use aveeno unscented body wash in the shower. Eucerin lotion every day after shower to keep moisturized and a prescription of betamethasone cream on my spots has helped tremendously.
I do notice that if i don't keep up with my daily skin regimen, that my skin will flare up quickly so it's very important to stay on top of it if you want continuous relief.
I also was taking MTX 20mg/week for 4 months and i absolutely hate it, BUT it did help my skin. I recently went on a vacation to Mexico and quit taking the MTX so i wouldn't get sick- i felt the best I've felt in months whole not taking it. The sun and saltwater were SO GOOD to my skin it was a dream come true. Then within 2 days of coming back home to Seattle my spots started showing up and my face felt like it was on fire.
I am going to try just using the skin creams for a few weeks and hope that will be sufficient because i really hate the crappy feeling from the methotrexate.
I guess you have to weigh out the pros and cons and do what works best for you.
Best of luck to you and i hope you find relief soon!
