Anybody Experiencing Nausea Post-Menopausal? This is AWFUL!!!

Hi Ladies;

I have been reading these threads about peri-menopause and nausea but not so much about POST menopause and nausea. Are any of you ladies experiencing this God awful nausea POST menopausal????

A little bit about me. I am 51, not really over weight (5'4" and about 150 lbs). My periods had started getting crazy about 2 years ago and my last period was about 11 months ago this month.

I heard all the horror stories about menopause and was like "what are these people complaining about - this is a breeze". Well, it was up until about a few months ago.

Thinking back, last December (I remember this because I was hosting Xmas and thought, this "flu" needs to go away or I am going to puke on everyones food. It did pass (lasted for about 2 weeks)so chalked it up to the flu.

Came back a few months later, then again in September (again lasted about 10 days), then again in October and it's been pretty constant ever since with a few days here and there where I feel decent.

I have always had really good labs and my labs in July (4 months ago) were actually the best I have ever had. This nausea would not stop so went to the doctor and they ran a few more:

FSH 108.4

LH 51.9

B12 835

Amylase 98 (they ran these because of the nausea/pancreas)

Lipase 27

CA-125 was 6

Doctors said I am post menopausal and not ONE recognized nausea as a symptom. She has me convinced I am crazy or dying of cancer somewhere.

I am going for an H-Pylori test tomorrow. She said it sounds like THAT could be a possibility as everything else is coming back normal. IS this normal or is it now?

I am not bloated, don't get full quickly, no bleeding, not tired a lot, but the nausea, hot flashes, and feels like I have a sock at times twisted on the upper right of my stomach under my ribs and sometimes have a slight achy pain in my right shoulder blade which makes me wonder if this is gall-bladder. I don't really have abdominal pain (maybe a twinge once an awhile on the lower right that I usually disregard.

I am thinking all the worst and praying this is just menopause so hoping you sweet ladies can either squash or confirm I am not going crazy and not dying of cancer or some God awful thing.

I force myself to eat, have not lost any weight (surprisingly).

Anybody have any thoughts!???

    hi leisa

    I'm post meno by 3 years and still have nausea almost daily especially after iv eaten and i eat such small amounts but still feel nausea. i always have mints with me which help a little but i find it comes on and off in intensities. it effects me the worse when im feeling anxious, if we're going out for a meal i get it before we get there then find it hard to select anything to eat so the whole experience is not ad enjoyable as it should be. All the tests i had came back clear so for me i think its either a meno symptom or my IBS.

    Hope you get some relief soon and don't worry because you'll make it worse.

    Sending you a comforting hug x

      You are an angel! This is awful. Woke up this morning nauseated, drank a glass of milk and threw that up too.

      Hard not to worry as I have no energy to do anything else!

    Nausea is the worst! It may or may not be related to menopause. My period stopped a few years ago for 11 months but came back on the 12th month! I did have some nausea and flu like symptoms. You may be done but your hormones could still be fluctuating. Your liver could be taxed also. Try drinking straight celery juice first thing in the morning (its a pain but worth it!) Also try cutting down on fats and sugar and add more apples, sweet potatoes, and whole foods. This will replenish your liver and pancreas. Ginger capsules help me immensely with nausea. All this cant hurt! It helped me. Since yours started with the change it can end soon when your hormones regulate more. Feel better!

    I'm eight years post meno. I had the nausea about four years in. Now at 59 I flip back and forth between starving and having no appetite. But no more nausea thank God.

    Oh I forgot to tell you my nausea was so bad that at one point some mornings I would have dry heaves.

    Hi Juanita;

    I would LOVE to talk to you. I just keep thinking this is something more. I skated through this for the first 6-8 months with only a hot flash here and there and mild bouts of nausea. This is almost daily and it's weird! I will feel great for a few hours and be all happy then without notice the nausea comes back accompanied most times by a hot flash. It's been like this for about the past 8 weeks!

    I was thinking gallbladder but I won't have any abdominal pain. I have an occasional cramp like feeling under my right rib cage like trapped gas and sometimes a pain (feels like a muscle strain) in my upper right shoulder blade but that is it!

    Doctor said if my liver, gallbladder, pancreas was the cause it would have picked up on my labs! This is just SO frustrating.

    Feel free to reach out. It's so comforting to know there are people (LOTS OF THEM) like us who are REALLY experiencing this when doctors all but brush nausea as a symptom off as psychological!
