Anybody finding it hard to learn to drive?

I have been learning to drive for about a year and half now...I took a test the other week and failed miserably! I don't feel confident on the roads at all and don't think I am a safe driver because I just panic all the time. I get so upset and frustrated because I really want to drive for my freedom but I really don't think I will be able to any time soon. The worst thing is how much money I have put in to it..thousands! I even got a car insaured for extra help but I think I am going to give up...I just can't do it

Yes, I've not yet been able to get my driver's ID, which is embarassing since I'm in my 20s. A lot of that has to be with being busy, not really having the ambition to "go out" anywhere special, and because I'm a little anxious about the idea of driving. Someday I think I'll get it, maybe within the next year or two. But don't push yourself. It'll happen if it's supposed to happen. Not everyone should drive. There is public transportation in many places, taxis, friends and family, and walking or bicycling. Don't feel bad about this Take care

I took my first driving lesson on my seventeenth birthday in the sixties and I passed in the following Febuary. It took me several years before I started to drive my own car. At work I was pushed onto driving vans and I failed their test because of the type of van and the time I had been unable to drive, I did not get my first car until I was nineteen. I had taken my test three times before I past so yes it is expensive, you have been learning to drive for eighteen months, why the wait on taking your test ? Are you getting full use of the ar you purchase to learn to drive in or are you not getting the chance to take some instruction.
I knew a girl who took driving lessons and failed Her Test several times and stopped taking driving lessons. Three years later she took her test again and past straight away after three additional lessons.
You have started now carry on Driving Instruction is one of those things that when you start you finish, Arrange another driving test ASAP and take intensive driving instruction. You would whoe the day in the future if you decide to pack in now.

It took me 4 attempts to pass a driving test. I felt like giving up but the driving school was supportive. I think when I was on my way to my last driving test, I failed to switch gears when driving onto the motorway and I started panicking because I couldn't get it out of neutral, so the driving instructor had to take over. I was certain I was going to fail again, but I didn't make any mistakes at all. I still felt very nervous about driving for 2 years afterwards, but after that it has gradually gotten easier.

once you manage the anxiety, and you will..most people do figure it out. Might not be 100 percent of the time but even 75% will be good and effective. Once thats managed you will be able to drive there are functional anxious people too. Oddly they are the luckier versions of most.
Good luck
