Anybody NOT had weight gain?

Hi,

I'm just wondering if anybody has taken propranolol without gaining any weight?

I took half beta last year and convinced myself I gained half a stone because of them, but who knows.

Been on a small dose of propranolol for a month trying to come off them and I haven't gained any weight.

I've decided I need to take them for anxiety so back on the 80mg slow release they are called Benadol.

I'm worried about what will happen.

Hi, I have been taking propranolol now for 6 months, I may of gained a little BUT I'm not bothered.  I take these for a reason as I suffer from acute migranes. As well as Sumpertription when I feel a migrane attack coming on.

How much gain would you say?

Do you find they make you tired? I've taken one this morning and it's like I'm in a daze!!

I suffer from migraine symptoms and anxiety.

Yes at first they made me really tired, I was told they can take a while to get into your system, so I just continued taking them. If you take them everyday and at the same time just so your body gets used to them. As for the weight Ithe weight  I'm still fitting into my clothes and nothing is tight on me I am a size 10.

My doctor prescribed Propranalol for Benign Familial Tremor (genetic tremor) and I took it for about 5 months. Started at a 10 mg dose, and was eventually bumped to 60mg. The first 4 months I gained about 10 pounds, but the last month I gained 20 lbs. It was horrible! Propranalol is used to suppress the thyroid, and I was already having problems (told the doctor) with my thyroid before taking this,  but this drug shut down my metabolism like slamming a door. My doctor was shocked at the extreme weight gain.

Its primary use is for high blood pressure, and it works by slowing your heart rate. I was so swollen, people remarked on how I had literally blown up insuch a short amount of time. After I quit taking it, I immediately lost 20 of those pounds, but have struggled ever since, as it now seems no amount of exercise or diet will take that extra weight off,  and my doctor had to prescribe thyroid meds to get my thyroid back in working order..

While I was taking the higher dose, I felt like I was in a fog, memory was diminished, no energy at all, and I would wake up at night with leg cramps - which is a symptom of withdrawals.

Seriously, there are drugs that are designed specifically for anxiety. Off-label use of a drug meant to lower your blood pressure is not a good idea. And yes, stopping it cold turkey does cause withdrawal symptoms like cramping, and is hard on the body.

I've been on them a week and already feel bloated. I don't understand why they don't put weight gain as a side effect when it seems to be an issue for a lot of people taking there. I gained half a stone in 3 months when I took them last time. How long should it help to improve anxiety and migraine. I was only taking 10mg a day but I was shaking having withdrawl I think so just stated again.
