hi ive been on 1omgs of escitalopram for 2weeks, with 2 weeks at 5mg, -amd im really struggling with side effects, zero appetite, nausea, no motivation - and i can not sleep without taking ambien which only gives me a couple of hours, i took mirt previously and slept great on it and hear that it can be combined with ssris safely as a boost - anyone tried this before i discuss with my doctor ? thanks.

hi karen, i have not. have you tried melatonin for sleep? when i first started lexapro i wasnt eating or sleeping much either. my dr gave me klonopin to help with sleep and morning anxiety, it mostly worked. with more time on lexapro i think what you are feeling will improve, it did for me.

hi amber, thanks for the reply, what dose are you on? how long did it take for you to level out - do you still need the klonopin? the morning anxiety for me is awful but the nausea then hits me really bad in the late afternoon, really suffering atm, so any encouragment is appreciated x

it took me 5 weeks to feel good after starting and i worked up to 20mg. when i am feeling good i dont need the klonopin. lately i have had a couple bad weeks mixed with good ones and am using the klonopin again to cope. the mornings truly are the worst. i am typing this now in the morning and feel it pretty strongly. but i know it will get better as the day goes by. i hope this helps.

hi amber, thanks a lot for your response, ive been on 10mgs for 3 weeks now, but ill speak to my dr next week about possibly increasing dose as im not feeling the benefits, but scared about increasing the side effects as ive been pretty ill. im sorry to hear you've had a bad couple of weeks, is this the first AD you've been on? sometimes they can start losing effectiveness - which i have experienced having been on a few, though it may well be just a blip x
