Hi mate we all know how you feel.if you take this medication you will feel  For 8 weeks or more. Or try some thing herbal before you feel feelings you never felt before. Sorry if I sound awful but this will make you feel worse before you may get better. But the feelings you will experience will never leave you. So buyers beware then you have the coming off .try any thing herbal before you try this. CBT course hypnosisis any thing

Hi , I started taking 50mgs just over 3 weeks ago and I'm starting to feel the benifits . I must admit the side effects were horrible and are still there a little , I would give it a week and then go back to your docs to tell them how you are feeling . Take care.

Hi Zara - I hope you don't mind me contacting you! I just wondered how you are getting on with this tablet - I am on day 2, taking 50mg and wondering how people get on with this tablet? Thanks.

Hi, and of course I don't mind !  I'm on week 6 and really feeling the benifits. I had horrible side effects for the first 2 weeks but I went to see the doc and he talked me through what I was experiencing . I am glad I stuck with it as I am feeling really good and back to my normal self . Stick with it and if you have any doubts go to the docs to talk . Hope this helps and take care xxx

Hello this drug can make you feel worse before you feel better.  It can take a few weeks.  We all respond in different ways.  Discuss with your GP.  Good luck!

    Hi,

I was on this tablet for many months and had hellish effects from it but it took hindsight to see how many of my symptoms came from this medication because - well lets be honest its not prescibed for nothing - i had been depressed for a looong time before having this prescribed for this reason.

The most severe issue i had was the loose bowles which increasingly got worse until they realised that i had microscopic colitis which this medication caused!!!!!!By the time that happened i had had increasing bowel problems for a year so i had been on this med for a long time. Other symptoms it caused was if i took it in the morning and skipped breakfast it made me violently sick and then after being sick once my head would ache for hours until i lay down and fell asleep (this happened 3 times before i realised it was the tab that caused it), i also would get like a butterfly belly if you know what i mean and sometimes just a foggy, dozey feeling in my head.

When the gp and hospital consultant finally realised that my colitis etc was caused by it they immediately stopped it and put me on the old style anti depressant called Amytriptline (its been around for yonks and they dont like to presrcibe it as much as it supposedly had more side effects than newer drugs like Sertaline but ive had no side effects- its taken at night and as long as you take it approx 8hours before your due to wake up you have no issues). This may be an option for you to research as we are all different but i have since found out from my GP (he researched it greatly after he had supported me for so long in finding out what the hell was wrong with my bowels) that loads of people have been diagnosed with allergies against it etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hope this info helps

Hi there - looking forward to seeing some replies to your question. I am on day 2 also, I actually fell asleep about an hour after taking it yesterday which was nice as I haven't really been capable of napping! I was on a different a/d before called Citalpram for 2 months that didn't help at all with my depression/anxiety so hoping Sertraline works well as I've heard great things. Are you thinking of coming off them altogether after 1 day?
