Anyone any new cures for rhinitus? What type of rhinitis do I have?

Basically I have tired everything including Evening Primrose Oil as Ray suggested but totally nothing has helped!

The only time my nose is ok is when I am in the open air outside, if I am inside anywhere in particular a house I am sneezing, my nose is running or blocked. I have noticed if the weather is raining or damp or windy my rhinitus is worse. All smells set if off. Its worse first thing in the morning.

It only started about 2 years ago out of the blue. So hard trying to sleep as its blocked or one of my nostrils makes that annoying half blocked sound when breathing through it all night which keeps me away as no matter how many times I blow my nose it comes back.

All smells or perfums or any smells set it off. Being out in the open air is my only relief.

Hi Mike, seems to be a matter of working out what is best for you, I suffered for 2 years, tried everything the docs gave me, saw an ENT specialist, had surgery for  a polyp and none improved things much for me. My solution has been

    1. Dyson Clean Air in the bedroom for sleeping, expensive at £399 for the small fan, but it has been worth every penny for me.

    2. Rhinomer nasal spray with Aloe Vera. Unfortunately I can’t find anywhere to buy this product in the UK, I buy when in Spain.

    3. Tea tree oil applied with cotton bud within the nose to clear any infection.

My symptoms are mild now and when away from home gone. I live in a polluted area under a flight path, either I found something that helped or I moved home!

i hope you find some relief. Lynda.

I have non allergic rhinitis which is triggered by any number of things but I am not allergic to anything when tested. Same issues as you and tried everything including nasal surgery. Then found capsaicin pepper nasal spray by capsinol. There has been so research in US on it and it works really well for me. I followed the research and did 3 puffs in each side, 5 times a day for 3 days then 3 in the morning and 1 at night. No blocked nose, no PND no coughing. If I find I have an attack coming on because of something in the air 1 puff stops it. You can get it from capsinol direct on line, cheapest and arrives within a couple of days.

Thanks for your suggestions both of you, Richard, can I ask is there a rebound effect from the spray you mentioned? I am guessing not because the rebound comes from decongestant nasal sprays and this doesnt contain decongestant correct?

Correct, no rebounds as totally natural product. You do get a burning sensation for a few seconds in nose and sinus when applied which gets less the more you use it.  A bit like a good curry!

Richard! I have been using the Capsinol orginal capsaicin pepper nasal spray for two days now and I have also found it works amazing for me! Normally I am constantly blowing my nose and sneezing but since using this its reduced by 90% in just 2 days use. My right nostril which is normally constantly solid blocked has become a little better too. I hope as I keep using this things will get even better as I have non allergic rhinitis

I have noticed I have been getting  a sore throat and swollen glands since using the product, do you think Capsinol can do this? maybe just a coincidence?  Maybe I just by coincidence have a cold at the same time.

Do you think its ok if I just use it when I feel a sneezing fit coming on (but not exceeding the Max recommended use) rather than using it as the instructions stipulate ie 3 doses a time for each nose hole. 3-4 times a day.?

How do you use it now? are you using it continually as the instructions say or just take it whenever you feel your nose getting irritated? are we suppose to keep using it continually year after year as the instructions say?

Thank you for telling me about this WONDERFUL product, and I had tried EVERYTHING else you can imagine and this is the only thing thats worked!!! this should be available on the NHS!!

Sorry for delay not sure how to use this site. Many people in the trial only did it for the first five days and had no more for up to 36 days.

I take it three time in morning and once at night. Try waiting until you need it it still stops an attack almost instantly so you don’t have to build up an Immunity

      Good luck

    Hi Mike and Richard,

ive now tried Capsinol as well and found it to bring relief. I tend to just use it when I feel the need and it works along with the other steps I’ve taken. Thank you for bringing it to my attention Richard, I feel a 100% better, long may we all breathe easily!

    Lynda.
