I have always suffered from stomach problems from what I remember.. stomach pains, gas and constipation but for the past year I been having mucus with and without stools.. There are daya where I go up to 3 times in the morning to the restroom. It starts with gas in the morning and sometimes pain in my stomach but as soon as I have a bowel movement it all goes away..My bowels contains mucus no blood thank God. When I wipe I also have that mucus..Sometimes is more Sometimes is less or non. At night again I get extremely gassy..I been to a GI and he didn't seem concerned at all..He said he wants to see me once I deliver my baby since I'm pregnant and just prescribed stool softeners because he thinks I'm just constipated..I been worried this whole time thinking sometimes the worst and the Doctor doesn't take me seriously. Anyone else going through something similar and what was your diagnosis?

By the way this isn't due to my pregnancy since I started a couple months before I became pregnant with the mucus but it wasn't as much as now so I didn't worried much back then.

Hi I too have mucus with and without bm but also have blood with bm .I've seen a gastro Dr who thought it was proctitis but after after having a sigmoidoscopy with biopsies taken said it wasn't. I've now seen a colorectal specialist who saysshe thinks I have a mucosal prolapse but i have another sigmoidoscopy scheduled in 2 weeks to check .

Hi! Is that your only symptom the mucus and blood? I been having it since a year ago and it worries me now because it won't go away.. I don't see any blood and the only test I got done was to check if my bowels had any blood and that came back good but my doctor didn't check for anything else he said he thinks its hemmoroids but then referred me to the GI Which didn't seem concerned and wants to see me after delivery.. That won't be until next month..It just worries me so much.

Yes they are my only symptoms . I too get constipation but it was always put down to me having an underactive thyroid . I would imagine your GI will start with a sigmoidoscopy once the baby is born . I know it hard but try not to worry too much . I find if I'm worrying about things I get more mucus x

Hi Michelle, Please keep le posted on your results.. I'm having some blood now when I go to the restroom.. It's not much only a bit of red blood..It is worrying me now even more.. I still go several times a day but not diarrhea my stool can be small pellet like at times.. Other days I go better but still the mucus doesn't go away its either in stool, when I wipe or both but not tge drops of blood I see on the toilet paper.. I'm trying not to stress since I'm almost due but it's hard not too when I have a baby on the way and 2 children.. I don't know if I should call the GI now to schedule the appointment or if I should wait until I have my baby..

Hi how are you doing ? Your symptoms are so much like mine . I've just had my sigmoidoscopy today and had 6 biopsies taken . They have yet again diagnosed proctitis . I'm pretty angry if I'm honest at the fact I was taken of my medication in April and being left to live with it until now then to be given the same diagnosis . I now have to wait for the biopsy results .

Maybe that's what I might have.. Do you get the mucus everyday? Mine just doesn't go away it's always there..I was scared about delivering my baby with that mucus but my ob said there was no problem they wipe me if it comes out (so embarrassing) Good luck with your results..I'm sure you will be fine and hopefully you can now take your medication as prescribed so you can recover soon.. Keep me updated. Best wishes.

Hello! I was wondering how everything went for you? Did you find out what you have? I already had my baby 3 weeks ago and yes I didn't worry about the mucus at all..I still have the mucus, pellet stools, and gas..also I started having rectal bleeding but I see I have hemmoroides so I'm guessing its from that since I didn't have them before I had my baby and it started right after I had her..I have an appointment FINALLY with the GI next month..Hope all is well with you and you are doing better..Please keep me updated.

Hi firstly congratulations on your new baby . Hope your both doing well . I'm doing ok . I'm using pentansa enemas enemas nightly and I've had no blood or mucus since starting them . I received a letter saying my biopsies have confirmed inflammation and that I have idiopathic ibd providing infectious causes have been excluded. I've never been checked for infection so I guess when I see the gi in November that may be something that needs doing .hopefully you may get some answers when you see your gi . Please let me know how you get on

Thank you! I'm glad you are doing better.. Hopefully the medication keeps working for you.. If you don't mind me asking what color is your mucus? I been very constipated these past days and have lower back pain and stomach pains..I don't know if its due to that.. My mucus is yellowish and brown sometimes a lot sometimes less..Is yours on the stool or by itself? I can't wait to see the gi but it seems forever still..I'm also scared of what might be found due to all my symptoms.. At first I thought the pellet stools were due to pregnancy constipation but I still keep going the same.. Maybe one day of the week I go normal..I tried getting a sooner appointment but the were all booked..

Reading what you have wrote is like reading my symptoms right down to the colour of the mucus. I was exactly the same as you . It's lovely now I'm on the enemas that I actually have normal stools . It's been so long since I 've had them I forgot what they were like . The only downside is the enemas cause stomach cramps but they literally last a couple of minutes .

I'm happy for you! I can't wait to have normal stools..I feel like I'm so stressed out by this.Thats all I think about since I never know what will I look at next in the toilet.. I'm even scared to look.. My family thinks I overreact but Its so scary for me..Having a friend that just passed away due to breast cancer..Im scared of the C word. Did they change your diet?

I completely understand where your coming from . It really gets you down . My family were the same . I know the C word worried me too but once I'd had my first sigmoidoscopy I did feel better about it . I've had no diet change at all but to be honest I've not had the chance to sit and talk it through with my gi . Ive seen my gp a few times about it but as they do t specialise in it they can't really tell me much

Hi Michelle how you been? How are things going for you any new updates? Well for me I went to the GI and I was not happy at all..He didn't seem to be concerned at all or seemed really to care..He had answers to all my concerns he said I poop pellets because my stoll stays longer in the colon, my stomach hurts before I GO because my colon is cotracting..The mucus is totally normal.. Ugh I hated that GI he said just to take fiber and colace..Well now things seem to be getting worst now my stool is mushy on and off for the past 2 weeks.. My pelvic area hurts I don't know if its due to it or maybe due to my birth control or the fact of having a baby 2 months ago.. I get stomach pains all over and I don't know if I'm just too stressed out since I been having headaches too.. The mucus doesn't go away it's always there..I still go could go up to 3 times a day in the morning.. My insurance is switching by next month and I called to make an appointment with my new doctor to see if they coud help me out instead but thet don't have appointment for new patients until mid January..I cry myself out asking God why are things going wrong for me..When I first started my symptoms I became pregnant and the Gi didn't want to do anything until after birth..I had her and he still didn't seem to care..Now that I'm having another Dr they won't see me until 2 months..I don't know what to do anymore..I just want to be healthy for my children.. Hope with you things are much better.

Hi sounds like your having a rough time at the minute . Things haven't been much better for me either . I'm just getting over my first bad flare .
Things were great for 4 weeks on the enemas then suddenly I started getting horrendous pelvic cramps with watery stools and bleeding . My ibd nurse checked me for infection and c diff which came back negative . I was suffering for 4 weeks when the nurse decided enough was enough and I reluctantly got put on prednisone. I'm now also having mesalazine granules and pentasa suppositories daily so treating from the top and bottom. I've been on the steroids for a week and they really have been a wonder drug and touch wood no real side effects as yet .
You sound like your having similar symptoms to what I was getting and i understand why your getting upset . I genuinely got to the point where I couldnt go on living like that . I can't believe your gi isn't interested ? . It's so unfair that we have to deal with this . I'm always around if you need a chat

I been told I am consipated even tho I go everyday (can see last nights supper in my stool)! My stool is soft but it changes throughout the day formed to soft stool. I can actually make 15 trips to the toilet a day (incomplete emptying)
I end up with pelvic pain because of the amount of time I spend on toilet.
I had a colonoscopy in 2011 got diagnosed with solitary rectal ulcer syndrome. Got left at that. 2015 had my daughter and things got worse. Noticed I had some flesh hanging out during a bowel movement been diagnosed with rectal descent and rectocele. I find fibre makes me worse and I had better BM when its formed stool.

It is! I just wish Doctors would take patients more seriously..I guess due to my age they think nothing of it.. I just turned 30.I been so stressed out for the past 14 'months..I tried controlling myself when pregnant Because I know it could've affected my baby.. We are taking a family trip to Mexico next month and my husband wants to take me to see a doctor out there.. I did see one last year that we also went and he told me based on my symptoms I had colitis sobhe prescribed me so medication and said if it didn't work out next would be a colonoscopy but we had only gone for a few days came back and found out I was pregnant.. I wasn't able to even take the medication.

Wow you sound very similar to my symptoms. The doctor said I suffer from constipation even if I make 3 trips to the bathroom every morning..Yes mostly incomplete..They are all different shapes like mostly are pellets, some are harder and other mushy and soft.. I do see un digestive food in them at times and freak out.. The mucus is always there and has been for 14 months..It's either in the stool or by itself..Maybe one bathroom trip I wont have it.. I started having pelvic pains and lower back pains.. Sometimes my stomach hurts like if I was to have diarrhea but throughout the day I get pains all over I don't know if it's stress or due to whatever I have..I just wish I had some diagnosis and medication because goggle makes things worst for me.. My family thinks I overreact and its all in my head.. I have suffered from constipation mostly all my life..I would only go twice a week and all of a sudden I start making 3 trips a day and mucus comes out.

No I'm not seeing a physiotherapist.. O was only seeing the gi but never no test were done..He just Said it was constipation and to do fiber and colace..That was before my stools became mushy.

My family also tried to tell me it was in my head and normal. They thought I just go to the toilet to soon and force my stool out (not sure if this can be done).
Do you spend alot of time on toilet? I noticed back pain soon after having my daughter and I would need toilet.

Well most of the time I'm constipated so I spend time in the restroom but try not to spend much time because if I strain all I get is mucus out.. I also only go pellets mostly everyday.. Sometimes even when just passing gas I get a little mucus..This is so embarrassing to talk about but since I'm trying to find answers I'm open to talk to people that are going through similar symptoms.. Around the time I started with the mucus I was on diet pills I don't know If that maybe had something to do with it but what concerns me that it's been more than a year and it won't go away.. I wish I had a colonoscopy done to give my mind some peace but the Doctor didn't give me that option..I'm switching insurance due to my husbands work so I will be seeing a new doctor and hopefully she is more help..I hate living like this..Every morning I wake up with lots of gas and then I go around the same time everyday but I get sacared of what I might find next on the toilet..The mushy stool comes out more quickly and I don't have to strain for it..

How old are you by the way?
What your telling me is how it all started for me I am actually worse now. 100% you need a colonoscopy.
I also now realised the lead up to my bowel problems and have always existed. Like when I got my period I end up very consipated and remember every so often I be in the house all day because I was having toilet problems.
I understand about the mucus as same has happend to me and I thought I actually pooed myself.
I don't think they are taking you serious because they don't think it sounds bad. Just the fact you get alot of mucus shows you need it looking into. Could be piles I think they can cause this too. During a colonoscopy they will normally band the piles if they find any.

Hi Michelle, wondering how everything is going for you? Well as for me, I went to see my new doctor in January and she only ordered blood work and everything came back normal..She said I might have IBS.. I hate the fact that nobody takes me serious..I still have my same exact symptoms..The mucus with every bowel movement sometimes brown and sometimes yellow..I don't know if brown means bloody mucus..I'm already going for a year having incomplete bowel movements..I have lower back pain and mucusy farts most of the time.. I'm desperate for answers but no doctor is help.. I just wish I had a correct diagnosis to have some peace of mind.. My daughter has been a blessing since I'm mostly concentrated on her and my anxiety hasn't been as bad..How is everything going for you? Any new updates?

Hi Ruby sorry for replying many months late..I wasn't around for a while, I'm 30 yrs old will be 31 next month..Wish I could get a colonoscopy but no doctor takes me seriously..I'm so tired of this..I started to learn and just live with the symptoms but at times I get scared of not knowing what I really have..It's been a year and a half since I started with my first symptoms the mucus..

Hi I'm doing really well thank you . I finished the steroid course at the beginning of January and I'm on maintainence meds now and have had no symptoms since starting the steroids. I feel for you I really do . It's not nice when Drs don't take you seriously . You need a scope ideally which would give you some answers . I would definitely push for one that's what I had to do . I think the Drs got fed up of seeing me .
