Hello, im new to this site basically I have suffered with Depression and anxiety for along time and ive been able to cope. However in the past 3 months i would say ive constantly been checking my pulse sometimes it feels really slow and it triggers a panic attack. I feel scared to go to sleep in case it just stops beating. Has anyone else suffered this or anything similar?

I usually get worried about a faster rate during certain times. Ive been tested thoroughly but it still gets to me here and there. The best reassurance is getting tested thoroughly.

your heart is not going to stop beating. It is an automatic function of the body that we ourselves don’t control. Actually it’s better to have a low rather than very high pulse rate.

When people are in excellent condition such as athletes, the pulse rate can be in the 50s. that’s because the heart is so healthy that it does not have to beat fast to do it’s job. Not sure what yours is but as long as it’s in that range or above then you are fine. And you should feel glad that your heart does not have to overwork. That’s what keeps it strong.

there is actually no need to constantly be checking your pulse rate. that is just going to increase your anxiety and you will have panic attacks for nothing. You can’t enjoy your life if you’re constantly doing this. As long as you get your regular check up at least once a year with your doctor and everything is OK, then you should just enjoy your life.
