anyone else feel like this? need advice on what to do

I've been sick now for 8 years and I suspect it's my pancreas but doctors never can figure out what's wrong cus everything comes back normal. I never have had any pancreas testing tho. My symptoms include intense pressure right under my left rib and goes into my back, some pain there(used to be bad pain years ago but its diminished some), intense hunger-can never get enough food, cannot gain weight, soft sticky stools. I recently had an us of my abdomen and everything looked normal. I haven't had too much blood work done recently but I can't get my doctor to take me seriously on my symptoms. She thinks its ibs but I know its not. I think this is my pancreas, I've thought that for the past 8 yrs. Does anyone else with pancreas problems have my symptoms? And if so what tests did u have done to confirm it? I can barely do anything anymore I feel so bad so any help would greatly be appreciated.

    Hi Liz,

I am in a similar situation to you. I have pain left side ribs, front back and side. Radiates into my back and shoulder. Aggravated after eating. Pain can last for hours. Fatty food is worse for me. I also have loose sticky stools of varying colour (brown, light brown, yellow, orange tinge) but at the moment no oil. I also have right sided pain too, under ribs, radiates into back.

I have had the following "normal" tests:

    Upper abdominal ultrasounds x4

    MRI with MRCP without contrast

    Endoscopy and sigmoidoscopy

Bloods (full blood count, amylase, lipase, liver function, inflammation marker, autoimmune marker, CA-19, CA-125, kidney function, vitamin a,d,e,k. Calcium, magnesium, vitamin b12 & folate).

I have biopsies for inflammation of the stomach (gastritis), h.plyori, celiac and IBD.

I have had stool samples for faecal elastase and h.plyori.

After being told IBS which I have not accepted. I asked my consultant to investigate my pancreas further. Over the next couple of weeks I am having: HIDA scan, Seechat scan and and endoscopic ultrasound.

Basic test for chronic pancreatitis is a faecal elastase test. Anything below 200 is signs of a pancreas problem.

Also an endoscopic ultrasound will show any changes to the pancreas.

I have joined a group on Facebook called pancreatitis pals. I have gained a lot of knowledge, help and support from this group and if you are genuinely concerned then you will gain a lot if you join the group.

I hope you manage to sort it out. I have only been suffering for over a year. But I've had enough of pain every day!

My endoscopic ultrasound is this week sad

I am in te same boat had 6 years of upper left pain. Had endoscope, ultrasound, colonoscopy, MRI with contrast, ct, stool samples, tons of bloods....all normal I'm told it's ibs but I also don't believe them. Pain goes round to my back and stabs in my side and back too! Worse day after alcohol. Docs competly rule out pancreas because of tests being normal but I struggle to believe them!

Seems a few of us will undiagnosed upper left problems
