Sounds like a lot of stress in your life. MedicTion does make it better. Anxiety can be from and usually is from and imbalance in your brain. Either try diffent medication or get a higher dose. Medication makes me sooo much better. I had agoraphobia and I can go out side without panic attacks now. I'm on prozac. Just gotta find the right medication and suffer through finding the right one . Maybe you should try more addicting medications because they work instantly instead of in weeks

I have horrible anxiety as well. It comes and goes but when it comes its really hard and all at once. I get down on myself and think the absolute worst. Symptoms for me are acid reflux..headaches..foggy/cloudy mind..muscle pain..chest discomfort..spasms..my fingers get tingly. I've had palpitations and panic attacks. Trust me i know what you're going thru. Its not always about a pill. I do alot of research. Start taking magnesium. Its really good for anxiety and muscle/brain function. Also go get acupuncture with a chinese doctor. It works wether you believe in it or not. Yoga/meditation will also help alot. Eat healthy bc the foods you eat agitate it. Run/walk to release some stress instead of constantly worrying about it. Get a deep tissue massage. Don't smoke and don't drink. Im starting to feel better and im doing all of the above. Good Luck and remember this will pass.

i know how u feel-i had it really bad for a week-it drove me crazy,i said to my wife one more day of this + i'll hang myself(it died down)-how u cope with kids !! meds take time to wk as i have just fond out so asked doc for some benzos to calm me down (valium etc) but docs are SO very reluctant to give them out as 1.addictive 2.u have to keep upping dose for them to wk-i begged my doc for some (i get on really well with him) + he still wldn't give any.as a74156 says either up the dose or change-but changing means TIME- time coming off + time for new one to wk.Lastly my medes took 4 wks  to wks -it was like night + day:one day feeling terrible + next day feeling human-try + get to 4 wks + hopefully u will see a change

I've had all these symptoms too. I've been like this for a month now. And trust me it's not the way your life is now, this is the way your brain reacts to all of the stress you've had in your recent past and now has decided to de-tune itself so it can rest until it recovers. It's a normal reaction and it's totally harmless. I'm on Cit 20mg and I'm only starting to see positive effects now. So hang on in there you're not alone in this world. As you can see there are a lot of people who are suffering from this so called anxiety disorder.

    We'll be fine smile

It's been 4 days. But it's just today that I've seen the positive effects... So it's going to take time and courage ... smile

keep going and you will feel better in time.  If not then change the medication to something that works for you better.

As has already been said, Citalopram does take a while to kick-in, it has a window of around 6-8 weeks to get to full strength. Also taking it at an appropriate time (for you), morning or at night times can have a positive or negative effect on you too. The best time is usually a not long after you have woken up, but testing it out yourself to see what works best for you and fits your lifestyle, Oh, just one other thing, when coming off a SSRI type medication, it's best to ween yourself off gradually and lower the dosage bit by bit over a period of say a couple of weeks to a month. Never stop taking them immediately, as you could end up with terrible withdrawal symptoms.

Stick it out, things should really start getting better pretty soon.

One of the best techniques to beat anxiety is to actually accept it and let it in, let it hit you with its best shot. Do not resist it, the more your resist the more it persists, so let it in and let pass through you. And then you will realise that it has absolutely no harm to you, then you can keep on doing this until you fully recover.

hi dizzydoll i know exactly how u feel- i told my wife i felt like ending things as i cld not stand another day and night of pacing around the bedroom not being able to sit down. The good news is that after 4 wks on sertraline i'm about 80% me again-i even went to shops after being indoors for over a month,so there is normality along the line.I know it's early days for me so i'm not counting my chickens but at the moment things are ok.Cit is meant to be 85% effective so it's getting the level right
