Anyone else get cracks appearing?

Just wondering if anyone else get cracks appearing? I seem to be prone to them more now then any outbreaks.

There usually down the side of the vagina on the outside like, bloody hurt, just wondering if anyone else suffered this? And any remedies used to help heal?

That's just a variation of an outbreak. Some people end up with tears/fissures in subsequent outbreaks rather than the more typical herpes lesions. Same treatment options apply, presumably.

Yes!! This has been a main recurring symptom so far, I've had a crack once a week for the last 3 weeks! Usually in the same place also.

I found a bit of sudocrem helped. I also try and dab when I wipe rather than actually wipe. Cotton underwear that's not right and let your vagina breathe at night and don't wear any clothes. That's all I've come up with so far. It's annoying because you can get these fissures for other health reasons so I don't know when I'm actually having an outbreak rolleyes

Yes that's exactly how my OB started also... I tried a bit of Sudocreme or Aloe Vera gel, didn't get too much relief from either to be honest! Super soft underwear is definitely required, and at night I leave underwear off and have some light bottoms on to avoid getting too hot and aggravating it or anything. I have heard people recommending witch hazel so may give that a try next time.

Glad I'm not only one! I've only ever had one outbreak and that was the first ever one since then just these cracks appearing!

I'm gonna try some anti fungal cream see if that helps

Why don't you get the tears swabbed? Pcr is the most accurate (viral culture swabs are more prone to false negatives). Then you'll know if it's due to herpes or not. Greentea14 recently had such a tear pcr swabbed and it came back positive for herpes. If you have confirmed herpes and get recurring tears, it is probably due to herpes, however. Just another of its many varied presentations.

I second this. No harm getting it swabbed just so you know where you stand.

I'm going to get swabbed again next time I get a fissure because that's what they advised.

Herpes is such a weird virus and so individual.

Swab testing the tears is just to find out if the tears are actually herpes, even though you already know you have herpes generally. I suspect the tears probably are, but you never know. If you don't swab test them and choose to self-treat, take care what you use. Avoid steroid creams like hydrocortisone on anything that might be a herpes lesion, as it can make herpes worse. Some antifungals contain hydrocortisone like Fiucidin H.

Was gonna use boots anti fungal doesn't have those 2 ingredients in just checked main active ingredient is clotrimazole?

Think that should be okay to try, but no idea if it will help if it is only herpes causing the fissures. Make sure there's no betamethasone in the ingredients, as that's an even more potent steroid than hydrocortisone used by some other antifungals.

No that's not in it either, dunno wether to try now or not but none of those ingredients are in it

Guess you can try a little first. If it makes it worse or doesn't help, stop, as with most things. Or you can try a neutral non-medicated/fragranced cream or ointment for sensitive skin to hopefully stop it from cracking further.
