Anyone else had a huge INCREASE in libido?!

I can't be alone in this. I was terrified the opposite would happen but it's crazy I'm now horny all the time. It's actually amusing and I guess it's not a bad thing. I'm 6 weeks in now and I'm not sure sertraline has done much else for me. Life is still very much a struggle. My doctor says I should persist still (I didn't tell him about this side effect) I'm not convinced it's working for me though. Plus I'm single so it's not exactly making life more exciting anyway! I have to laugh - otherwise I'll probably cry!

I understand it can take 6 weeks or a little longer to start working. I started on 50 mg went up to 100 then 150 now I am back on 100mg they worked for me but I think I came off 150 to soon. I am going back to see the doctor. So give them time if they work keep on them as long as the doctor say so. As for the horny bit, no such luck for me. Lol

Hi Loco-estrella.....omg....you sound just like me!! I have been on sertraline for bout 2 months now (for work anxiety) and have just halved my doses from 50 to 25mg every other day.

My sex drive has been thru the roof for about the last 3weeks or so, annoyingly its good but not ideal for me as my husband works abroad!!

Its really weird tho as I lost my drive a while back and had no interest at all in it, life took over and it was always the last thing on my mind!! now its the 1st thing on my mind!!

I did get the side effects when i first started the med, so bad that i nearly came off them after 4 days....upset stomach, abdominal pain, not feeling myself and dry mouth, but i pushed on and those went fairly soon.

i am trying to wean off them now. i wish u luck.

    ps im 38.

    xx

Hi nivalolita. I appreciate your post was over a year ago but wondered what your reason was for being on Sertraline. Liz

This is an old post but I found it because I was asking the exact same question! I've had previous experiences & always heard anti-depressants hurt your libido so I I didn't really put two and two together until I went off of med for a few weeks. Two weeks after I started them up again I realized this one defiantly has the opposite effect on me. My husband loves this odd side effect so I really hope your not still single!

I've recently started back onto sertraline and have been on it for about 2 months after coming off it over a year ago, and I am exactly the same! It's strange because I don't remember this happening last time I started on it, for now it's a good thing I suppose but also not a good thing as my fiancé is about to start renovating our house. Fingers crossed it doesn't effect us too much

My libido went south, but since I was single it didn't matter too much.  I mentioned it to the doctor, and he said if I did find myself in a relationship he could prescribe Viagra.

I am almost weaned off Zoloft after about three years  ... still waiting for the libido to kick in.

Out of interest  ... is only females experiencing the increased libido?

No. One good thing about Zoloft is it improves your ummm stamina which for me is a great thing.

Trouble is my wife's interest in bedroom olympics isn't so re awakened. So it's a bit of a waste really! Ho hum!
