Anyone else had a Salty mouth?

Hi,

I’m hoping that someone can help me please. I’ve been searching on Google, visited my Doctor, visited my Dentist too but nobody has any answers.

My Doctor said he wasn’t worried about my symptom which is all very well.......but he’s not the one with the problem, and I am worried (unfortunately) !!

It all started following a problem with my upper molar which had to be extracted because I bit on something hard and it completely cracked into two. The Dentist removed it but then I developed an abscess and a dry socket. After two lots of antibiotics and Ibuprofen I ended up with severe heartburn/ back pain etc as it exacerbated Gastric Reflux and I was put on Omeprazole.

I had to have an endoscopy but by the time it was done I actually felt OK and the only thing it showed up was a Helicobacter Pylori infection and I’m currently on a large dose of antibiotics to clear that up.

The trouble is that ever since I had the tooth abscess back in December 2017 I’ve been having an intermittent salty taste in my mouth, which seems to be on the left side only

In the last week or so I’ve noticed that my mouth can go really dry on that side too.

Are these symptoms of a salivary gland disorder?

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

My mouth just doesn’t “feel right” after having my tooth out and although I realise that the missing tooth can be annoying and one can keep touching the gap with ones tongue, I don’t think this is the actual problem.

Please help.

Thank you Jane
