Anyone Else had Hip Surgery as Young Child then Hip Replacement when older Adult ?

I am having right hip replacement on Monday, the consultant - as they do - went through the risks of surgery and told me due to my hip surgery at the age of 2 (born with dislocated hips that was missed) the op could be more complex and considered higher risk, I just cant stop worrying about it now, am convinced something will go wrong ! . I am in my 50s and have severe osteoarthritis in my hip. Has anyone else had hip surgery as a child then hip replacement ?

Thanks !

Hi, I had hip dysplasia in right hip as a child but they refused to operate until I was done growing. Once I hit 25yrs old I couldn't delay it any longer since at that point my right hip was completely gone. I had THR done and That hip lasted me 21 years without any pain or issues. I've since had a revision and issues with bone loss, definitely not a picnic. I am 52yrs old now. The advice I'd give to you is to try not to stress yourself, trust me I know how hard that is. Even as I type this I'm thinking about how hard that is to not stress . If you can do some stretching of your leg muscles some, it will aid in the recovery process. Praying all goes well, God bless.
