Anyone else had there gallbladder removed due Salmonella cholecystitis?

Hi there,

I'm 25 & just had my gallbladder removed because 4 months ago I got a nasty case of salmonella which put me in hospital & after being discharge I presented with different symptoms it was a rather long winded affair to get a diagnosis but I now have Salmonella cholecystitis, My gastro doctor explain that this is extremely rare affect of salmonella which basically means the salmonella decides to 'hide' in my gallbladder & poison me from there!!

After a lot of googling & havent found anything about other peope going through the same as me, so was wondering if anyone else had? And if so what was there experience & recovery like?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Actually it is some kind of gangeronous/poisoning effect on the gallbladder.

How your doctor concluded it is from salmonella is unclear. Did you eat something that had salmonella like contaminated seafood or milk?

This should be treated as having normal cholecytitis, or inflammation of the gall bladder.

My daughter has had salmonella for almost 3 months now.  Maybe it's time for her to see a gastro doctor! Any advice from your experience is welcomed!
