having increased my dosage to 20 mg from 10 after suffering a relapse im in the wars especially the tail end of this week. monday afternoon and evening i fel much better and had my hunger back. come tuesday onwards, ive just a hugely heavy head and reduced appetite again. ive been back at 20 for 12 days and although the,bad thoughts have reduced, the physical aspect is still here in the form feeling week, waking early, sensitivity to lights at work feeling spaced out.

i just wanted to know if any cit users have gone back to a higher dose and had difficluties?

i decreased to 10mg for 6 weeks before getting kicked in the arse by an aniety attack which has led me into depression again. cit worked really well for me last time, so im holding onto that.

Hi This time last year I started to cut down on cit,, I stayed 5 months on 10mg then eventually in September I decided to go down to 5mg but after a few weeks I started to feel the anxiety was coming back so went back up to 10mg and felt awful, I went to see the GP and he said to go back to 20 and to start with felt even worse, I was beginning to think it would never get better but it did, it did take longer than when I went on it the first time and the side effects seemed worse but I got there in the end, I hope it will soon get better for you.

I wish I'd never decreased it in the first place now, as i was Great before. It's reassuring to hear your story though as its been a very tough 12 days back on 20. I feel spaced out, huge headache pressure, nausea, the sweats in the morning and waking up early. Bad thoughts of life in general, hopelessness, empty feelings, playing scenarios through my mind its been hairy so far. The doc Said if after two weeks it doesn't improve to go back and step up to 30?

Slept better last night so don't feel so zombie like today, which is great. Still not massively hungry though, but ill take feeling like this all day long over the last few days. Had sominex and camomile tea last night so don't know if that helped but ill take it!

The only thing not working since the relapse is my 'gentleman sausage'...... Made a couple of brief appearances over the last few days but no joy otherwise?

Hi guys. Nice to know there are people out there in same boat as myself. Day 12 on 10mg citalopram. Is it normal to have good days and bad days? Still have a bit of diarhea. Bad anxiety in the mornings. Sweats. Will this calm down? Do I need to go up a dose? Any advice muchly appreciated. Thanks everyone x x

Yes those are normal side effects you are experiencing. The morning sweats for me were killer followed by anxiety and not been able to go back to sleep. The runs is also natural, better out than in I say! 12 days is still fairly early so if you are having good days then that's a great sign. Give it a month id say unless your feel no better off than you were before you went on them. The side effects should should settle down soon so keep with it as your the other side of the hill now!

Thanks Aj. I'm waking up at silly o clock then I'm wide awake until it's a reasonable hour to get up. Then the anxiety kicks in. So glad I'm not going mad because sometimes that's how I feel. I'm also taking beta blockers for the physical anxiety and I feel like I have a tight band round my head most of the time. Things can only get better. Good luck to anyone else who is suffering these horrendous side effects. Xx

Yes, I found anxiety to be at its worst in the mornings, ferocious hot sweats, wanting to go for a pee, then not getting back to sleep. Feeling rubbish because you haven't had restful sleep compounds everything as well, for me my appetite especially. Do you take it at night? Try nytol or sominex seem to help me last couple of nights, and camomile tea stuff. Some people take theirs in the morning, I tried it the first time I had them and I was a zombie. I mean really weird, so I swapped to nights. Keep going they are good once they kick in, I was given 20mg to begin with and I felt the benefits within 4 weeks. Feel free to ask me anything.

Thanks again your comments are appreciated. I take mine in the morning around 7am. The sleeping problem is a nightmare right now maybe I should swap to nights? I may try some nytol. Knowing you feel better gives me some reassurance. Stops me googling my symptoms every 10 minutes lol. Thanks again hope you continue to do well. X

Try nytol or sominex. They are not addictive or anything like that and don't mess with the cit. one good nights sleep and you will feel so much better. It will happen. Listen to some music, think of a great memory. I know its hard trust me. How's your appetite? Make sure drink lots of water, try a direllite as well as they replace minerals lost. As for checking google.... tell me about it !

Will do. My appetite is coming and going. I eat because I have to sometimes. Two weeks ago I couldn't swallow food so much anxiety I kept choking. Small steps. I just want a good nights sleep. How long did it take you to feel any improvement on 10mg? X

I started on 20 mg. 3/4 weeks to feel difference. Like you I was dry heaving, zero appetite, aware of every noise and on edge. Soup and fruit. Catch 22 is if you can't sleep if you haven't fuelled your body. My appetite is back a bit now, but still comes and goes. Maybe you should consider increasing to 20mg as 10 is pretty low. Speak with your gp about it perhaps?
