As far as I know stem cell will be the treatment for many people in the future. However I believe it is still at the experimental stage

I have been reading different things..I researched alot...I talked to people and one lady who had stem cell but it didn't work..apparently if your bone on bone there is no cartilage to regenterate..I read some people were feeling better a little..but didn't know if eventually they still needed a replacement.

I also read knees and shoulders are more successful than hips...I tried to get on clinical trials but none were available for hips..there are some stem cell places in my area..they claim it's proven success for arthritis..but unfortunately insurances do not cover stem cell it would have to be out of pocket...cost is like 2-5 thousand an injection..like any thing there are complications..I would love to get on a clinical trial

You must be in US as UK do not promote or endorse stem cell therapy yet ?

I looked into it with Emory but they checked my x-rays and said my arthritis was too far advanced. I have also heard that knees are more easily treated with stem cells than hips.

I had mine done 9 weeks ago too and although the X-rays showed I have arthritis in my other hip I was never aware. Then yesterday that familiar pain was there in my other hip, it was the first time I have felt it and feel quite upset. I was hoping I would have a few years pain free.

When  you say stem cell, do you mean transplant? Didn’t know it was possible but would never have it as the treatment killed my husband or at least the doctors did due to complications but that’s another story......

Oh my..I'm so sorry to hear about your husband...

Apparently they harvest stem cells from your own bone marrow..or some other source..and inject it into the joint...there is also PRB plasma rich blood they can inject into joint..I seem success on horses..but I haven't met anyone yet who had success with arthritis..but I was on forums where people claimed they felt better..just wondered if anyone on here ever tried it...I'm sorry you have pain...I think that my left hip was so bad that the right seemed normal..now that my left hip has no pain I feel it in my right..it's not real bad..but I feel it..

I think that’s why I have started feeling pain in my other hip now as well.

With  this stem cell treatment, they don’t have to give you chemo then, to destroy your immune system obviously as it’s not cancer, is that right?  So it should be safer.

Right ..no chemo..stem cells are harvested than injected into joint in hopes to regenerate cartilage..it's expensive.( In my opinion) not covered under insurance...
