Anyone experienced this?

Hi, I'm 49 years old and think I am going into perimenopause.  My period is still regular but mostly over and done within a day, for the last 6 months I have experienced extended periods of moodiness, breast tenderness that can last for weeks, nausea not related to anything I have eaten, muscle aches which seems to be better now but the most annoying symptom is the feeling that just underneath my skin I feel tender, almost like a bruise.  This feeling is mainly on the outside back of my arms and occasionaly on areas of my legs. To describe it better, it's not my muscle or my skin but seems to be the area between my muscle and skin if that makes sense.  I've been to see my doctor who  has run a series of tests and apparently I am very healthy and has put these symptoms down to hormonal changes. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced the tender body feeling and have you found anything to hep relieve it? Thanks

Hi Mariana, yes, I've had the same thing as well. In fact, I just started feeling it again after it had subsided for a few years. Magnesium helped me to remove some of the aches & pains, but not sure if it helps other women. I also took glucosamine chondritin and between the mg and the glucosamine those two worked to take away my pain. It's definitely due to the fluctuations of hormones since before this I also never had pain. Also, it is important you drink lots of water. Sometimes joint & muscle pains can be brought on by dehydration. So drink up but avoid alcohol.

Thanks so much for your reply.  I will definitely increase my water intake to see if that helps.  I'm already taking magnesium but might up my intake, I'll also try the other supplement that you've mentioned.  :-)

    Marianna,

My skin feels almost sunburned at times (mostly arms and legs).  I thought it was just my sensitive skin, but maybe it was due to Peri.  My list of symptoms gets longer all the time.

As for the sore breasts, I found that Evening Primrose really helped and it kicked in pretty quick, too.  I take it everyday x 2.  Thanks to the lovely ladies' suggestions on this site, I started taking D3 which has helped my moods a lot.

I wish I had advice for you on the nausea.

Be sure to take your calcium always with magnesium on a 2:1 ratio.

    Hang in there!

Hi Denise, yes I get the sunburned feeling too, mostly on my arms and legs as well.  I've read that this can happen during perimenopause

I'll try the evening primrose to see if that helps the breast tenderness.  I'm already taking vitamin D, Magnesium and Calcium.

Thanks so much for responding, I feel better knowing other women are experiencing these symptoms too as horrible as they are! :-)
