anyone get gullet spasms?

Posted , 2 users are following.

when i get stressed my anxiety starts to build up and if its prolonged say maybe about an hour if its gentle (it depends on how high the stress levels are) well i get a pain in my chest and a tightness and i feel really weak and i've been told that it is gullet spasms due to anxiety and i was given a spray for under my tongue then i was lucky enough to get put on pregablin,

so does anyone else get gullet spasms?

i also recently had a breath test at the hospital to check for bugs and it was negative.

Esophageal Spasms are very rare indeed but when they do occur they are usually linked to stress and anxiety.

The initial treatment is usually by medicating with Nitroglycerin spray or calcium channel blockers, one of which you have already tried.

Chronic case can be treated with antidepressants such as trazodone or nortriptyline.

In your case your doctor has prescribed Pregabalin which is also considered an excellent treatment for this disorder.

      thanks for the reply

i didnt know it was rare, does that mean i probably wont find anyone with the same problem?

do you know what happens to people with this? like does it clear up or can it get worse? do you know how bad it can get?

I'm sorry to appear vague but there is no guarantee that this is exactly what you are suffering from.

It is very rare and you should therefore report this sympton to your doctor who will firstly diagnose whether this is exactly your problem and then decide what action to take to ease the unpleasantness.

Esophageal Spasms can be cured and you should not get yourself more anxious worrying about it as this could make the symptoms appear even worse.

Please book an appointment with your doctor, and dont panic it is not serious.

thanks, it fits and the doctor did mention gullet spasms and gave me that spray for under the tongue which helps when it comes on bad,

the pregablin really helps and i dont need the spray as much bc of it.

But please remember that you are not alone. Your doctor is there to support you with treatment as and when you require it, and this forum is here to give people the reassurance that they are not alone and that there are solutions for most things.

      Best wishes
