Hello everyone. I suffer from panic disorder so I have symptoms all the time. I've been dealing with my panic disorder really well lately and being able to handle my attacks and make them stop. The issue I'm having now is that I just can't sleep. I get really close to falling asleep and then BAM random panic attack. I'm currently still having the panic attack but I am using the techniques I have learned that help me get rid of it. Just wondering if anyone else ever gets these before going to sleep? Usually I'll wake up from my sleep in a panic attack but now it's starting to happen right as soon as I'm

About to fall asleep

What are your symptoms while you have a panic attack ?

My symptoms are usually. Cold sweats, dizziness, fast racing heartbeat. Nervousness, always thinking the worst is going to happen. Weird aches and pains throughout my body. Sometimes numbness in hands feet and fingers

The reason I asked is because I'm going through similar experiences like you. Except on my part I control the racing heart beat with propranolol 20mg (beta blocker) and sometimes I can't sleep due to hot flashes pain in my chest or other body parts sometimes my mind over thinks to much I also have cold sweats.

Its been brought to my attention by my doctor and psychiatrist that generalized anxiety disorder causes these symptoms and we have to learn to manage them and not let it take control of our body and mind.

Exactly! Don't let it take over. It's easier said than done but when it comes down to it, it's very difficult to try to stay positive and keep your head on straight when you think you're having a heart attack all the time lol. I Refuse to take any medications, it's just not for me. But I use breathing exercises and I go to the gym and play video games to keep my mind straight when these things are happening.

Download this application called (icare oxygen monitor). It checks your heart rate ,oxygen, blood pressure all together just to be on the safe side I would recommend it for you. It also has techniques for easy or intense work outs and it helps relief for anxiety and stress but it takes time to overcome it.. This app has been helping me out with my anxiety attacks.

Yes I have had that happen very often. I love to fall asleep to audio medications that help me with panic attacks. If I wake up later and feel anxious again I just listen to them again.  They teach us how to deal with the panic. You can find them on YouTube just search panic attack emergency or search mindfulness meditation. I think I like the mindfulness even better. More you do these the more automatic they become and the faster I get rid of my symptoms. They might really help you also!

Hi, I am male, 16 years old. I have been suffering from anxiety and phobias, fear of impending doom and many stuff, It was going alright for a little while but I still have things in my mind like all the times, most of them are unwanted thoughts, political thinkings and strange feelings. I had many strikes of fear and anxiety attacks but no, I have never had a panic attack just until yesterday night. I was wondering all nights, most of those thinkings are just dreams, imaginary future or worry. I was thinking from 3am to 5am when my mother woke up, she always wakes up very early in the morning and then I was noticing the sun is rising, and I realized I was trying myself out to fall asleep but I couldn't. I am afraid that this never happened so I TRIED to sleep. And then bad things happened like heart beats loud, chest pressure, hard to breathe, feeling like I was about to jump out to nowhere, like I was about to scream loud. The more I try the more I feel bad so i tried to repeat a mantra again and again to calm myself down but It takes about 1 hour for me to calm down when people are greeting outside window and the alarm goes off. I try to breathe slow while the fear is still messing me up and then fall asleep finally, and I woke up at almost noon. I have been, in my panic attack, praying for god and buddha to help me over the night and promise to donate money to some people later.

I also over-think, have catastrophe anxiety about many things like what I do maybe a sign of impending death so I avoid and stop myself from making any change and get out of any situation to make me feel strange and out of daily routine.

Sometimes I think that what if I'm gonna live my whole life in fear ? Help.
