Hi Julie  I've had both big toe joints replaced with ceramic implants.  It took around a month wearing a boot to get fully mobile again.  Both ops were fairly painfree, I just needed paracetamol after day 1 - not sure how anyone else has got on maybe I had a great surgeon!

Is it because of osteoarthritis, does your big toe joint stick out.  Mine doesn't but i still am in pain if my shoes arn't right, I have a wardrobe full of shoes I cannot wear now.   I have to buy shoes where the leather doesn't join together about that place.

Haven't a clue just starting to deal with this now.  I honestly wish someone would answer the question.  I know someone who had an operation for a bunion privately and she was in a lot of pain.
