Anyone had a Hip Resuracing op?

Posted , 2 users are following.

7 days post op and just wondered if there isanyone out there who had had a Hip Resurfacing and what there recovery was like?

im walking pretty well, pain when getting up but struggle to do a couple of the PT exercises which made wonder at what stage should I expected to be one week in.

However on the other hand I am very surprised how 'mobile' I am - I can get I and out of the bath to have a shower unaided etc...

cheers

    Hi PTBCAL,

I had a Hip Resurfacing back in 2015.  Unfortunately I did not do well.  The recovery was difficult and within 4 months I was back in surgery getting a FRHR.

I'm sure this procedure works for some, as they wouldn't offer it if it didn't.  I found that the recovery with the FRHR was easier than the resurfacing.

Wishing you the best, and keep us postedsmile

      Thanks Kimberley,

Can I ask are you now fully recovered?

And can I ask why didn't it work?

      Thanks

The reason it didn't work for me was because the arthritic bone was too far gone.  The surgeon didn't realize this when he attempt the procedure.

I'm now 8 months post FRHR and doing very wellsmile  No longer in pain and back to my normal lifestyle. I wished that I'd never put myself through the first procedure, but you know what they say about hind sight..

I wish you the best on whatever you decidesmile

Thanks Kimberley and I am geniunely pleased your doing so well.

My surgeon was surprised about how much more Arithitic my hip was but at the same time he was very pleased at how it went. In Scotland he is the only chap that does HiP resurfacing op so very experienced.

      Fingers crossed.
