I would like to hear from anyone in U.K. who has had this treatment & where it was performed. My G.P. & specialist ENT doctor tells me there is no treatment or cure. That applies to NHS & privately.

    Hello Michael,

I think I've answered your post before, or maybe you're a different Michael.  I saw my ENT Consutant on Tuesday where he found a pin-prick hole on my left eardrum.  The feeling of being clogged again, due to sinus and congestion was awful.  He Microsuctioned my left ear again (6 times I've had this procedure done) and he managed to remove all the mucus at the back of the eardrum....feels wonderful !!  He also prescribed Prednisolone Steriod Tablets to get rid of inflammation and sinus issues.  He also found polyps stage 2 on right side of nostril and one on the left....these things cause me to make mucus, then the clogging of ears.  He doesn't agree with the Balloon method.  I've started using the NeilMed Sinus Rinses and that seems to be helping get rid of the excess musuc.  These can be purchased in Boots.  I too live in England

Thanks Anne. Your comments were really useful to read. I've had pressure problems since I had an op to repair my perforated ear drum in November last year. Apparently my ear drum is now strong with less flexibility than before so hence the pressure/pain. I'm fed up of it now as it keeps coming and going!

Thank for your comments Anne.I've had CT & other scans too which don't reveal anything at all.No sinus,no polyps,no mucus.Just pressure that builds & affects clarity. If I lay down for about half an hour it ceases, but builds up again very quickly.

      Kind regards

      Michael

Have you flown recently, as it could be air pressure.  Why would they block if no mucus present.  Unless, it is eustachian dysfuntion and why would that suddenly happen.  How long have you been suffering....could it be an allergy ?

I feel your frustration and unless people suffer with this, they've no idea how rotten it is.  Sounds though happened during surgery then.  I have a tiny perforation at the moment in my left eardrum and fortunately was seeing my ENT consultant on Tuesday, where he suctioned the mucus from all my congestion out....feels brilliant at the moment, but won't last as I've had this procedure about 6 times in the past 3 yrs.  Hoping I never have to have a repair.  Do you cause the perforations by squeezing your nostrils together and blwoing....I'm sure that's my reason as I can't stop ding it when mine are really blocked.  Hate, hate the feeling of ears being constantlt blocked.

Not too sure if I'm repeating myself on here to the same person.  Once to Michael and the other to Jo27820.

Always glad to help anyone suffering this condition, as I' an expert on ears having suffered with clogged ear on and off (more on than off since the 1980's.  And as I've said before, due to this, I contracted bacterial meningtis in 1994......dreadfu time and can't believe that was 23 yrs ago last March, but still very raw in my memory how ill I was and lsoing the sight in my left eye and hearing down in left ear too.

Sorry if I've repeated myself, but there are so many of us suffering on the Patient Site.

I've had it for two years now Anne & it's making me very irritable & subject to panic attacks.I know I'm luckier than many who have pain & mucus as well.Flying never made any noticable difference.
