Anyone had any experience with a supplement 5 HTP

Posted , 6 users are following.

I have read some good reports on it for anxiety/depression/insomnia and it is a type of amino acid extracted from an African Plant. It is available naturally in small quantities in food.

I will get it Friday payday and report back.

I would love to find something more natural and get off valium.

Good morning

I have to agree, if your looking for a miracle pill to pop to stop anxiety - its just not going to happen. See a therapist, talk about what's giving you problems - there's a good chance you can resolve some issues. A pill can't do that, and especially not ones bought over the internet. Your call

    Hi walter

If you find something that helps with your anxiety than theres no harm in trying it.

Thanks Tanya. Like I said "Anyone had any experience with a supplement called 5HTP"

Just looking for reports or feedback back on people that have tried it. Especially the getting off to sleep part interests me most.

The company I use for my heart supplements (Co-enzyme Q10 Omega 3 fish oils) is a well known regulated safe British company, I don't think I'm allowed to name on here. Older friends of mine have used them for years.

A friend of mine recommends them says there pretty good.

Just look at the benefits they have way less side effects than any ssri medications and they are supposed to do the same thing but in a more natural way.

Give them a try. If they work and it can help manage your anxiety then its easier for you to then it makes thing easier for you to work on your own strategies to improve and get rid of it completely and good thing is you shouldn't have any side effects coming off them.

      Hi walter,

Im sure the other gentlemen and myself didnt mean to irritate you at all...we are on this forum to help others and ourselves more importantly....please try whatever supplement u feel will help u ..., but at the end of the day it might only help u suppress the worry temporarily....for long term improvement you have to try to stop worriong period as hard as it sounds...

I will never ever take an SSRI again. Prozac made me suicidal and made the anxiety 10 times worse and other terrible side effects. The pharmaceutical companies were forced to put a suicide side effect 'black box warning' on all SSRI drugs. They knew about this risk for years but profit came first.

Citalopram seems to be the first line treatment now, it's a newer type SSRI and every second person I meet seems to be on it.

Telling someone with chronic anxiety (GAD) to try to stop worrying doesn't work Sam. The worry is uncontrollable and is the main reason the disorder is so difficult to treat. You didn't irritate me.

I think if a pill helps with anxiety then take it, one thing I would say is that with depression comes anxiety and visa versa so if taking something yo help the anxiety and get to the root of the issue will help.

The tablets will make you strong enough to be able to overcome and fight the anxiety.

I finally think ive  figured out the reason which even some doctors dont know why some anti-depressants or anti- anxiety work for some people and don't for others it because of our methylation- you could be overmethylated or undermethylated. Eg: if your undermethyated then you probably wont respond well to dizapeam but will to ssri.

Look it up its interesting. You can check this by doing a whole histamine blood test or for better determination speak yo a nutrienist and they can tell you what to test for to get a more accurate result.

So im now taking vitamins for pyrolle which get made up from a compounding pharmacy as per doctors/nutrients treatment plan- please look this up.

if you have pyrolle then this could be causing your anxiety/depression.

Its too hard to explain so please look it up and I hope its everyones fix.

Good luck and please let me know the outcome.

No idea but they reckon anxiety suffers are likely to have it.

Look up truevitality website and have a little ready.
