Anyone had LASIK/PRK for small touch-up after EDOF IOL implant?

I had Symfony lenses implanted a year ago and have had YAG... where I am now is that I have one eye at plano (0.0), but the other has a small +0.5 error with a -0.5 astigmatism.

This might not seem like much - and it isn't too noticable at far distance like road signs. However, indoors, with the TV, computer, smartphone, and reading, it's progressively more noticable the closer you get - I cannot read a book or smartphone with that eye alone, but with both eyes I can.

Essentially it seems like the EDOF benefit is cancelled in that worse eye. It's livable, but the imbalance bothers me daily - if I attempt to sit and read a book or newspaper the worse eye waters and it's just uncomfortable.

I'm trying to decide if it's worth doing PRK. I tried on a trial pair of glasses with a corrective lens to simulate the result and it does fix the symptoms I'm having - it's exactly what I'm wanting.

So I'm wondering if anyone else has done laser touchups for small corrections like this and if they were satisfied with the results?

I have thought about getting PRK / Lasik, I am -.75 for distance and the doctor said for such a small prescription, it probably wouldn't be best to do it because you can over-correct.

    Something to think about

Actually, they suggested because the correction is so small, it's not difficult to hit the target - it's uncertain with much larger corrections where a lot of work needs to be done (ie-10)

Was yours included or extra cost? I almost wonder if some docs say it's difficult because they've offered it as included in the package price and just want to avoid the extra work. Seems sad to say, but I wonder...

It was included in the cost. That's very interesting though that your doctor said it wouldn't be hard to fit the target. I might re-visit the topic with my doctor and see what he says.

I haven't, but am certainly thinking about it.

I have astigmatism in my left eye from lasik done many years ago.

I have a situation similar to yours.

    I have symfony iol's.

these symphony iols are great for distance but i cant see anything up close. i wish they could bring it in a little bit so i can see at least arms length. WHATS YOUR THOUGHTS?

      Hi

I had surgery 6 month ago, both lenses (edof/trifocal mix) have shot over target by +0.75.

I could have had laser, it was included, but chose not to, I won´t risk it. Most people have good results, but dry eyes and visual side effects is very common.

If my vision changes in the years to come, maybe added astigmatism or whatever, I think I would rather consider a ICL lens. It is more expensive, but you don´t mess with the cornea and it is reversible, it can be removed again.

I am following this thread as I have the same issue to a T. Also thought about getting PRK laser.

george05887, have you talked to your surgeon about it?

I've talked to some of the surgical consultants at various clinics and got varying responses... some said that such a small correction would be fairly easy to target correctly and sharpen up, while other said that such a small correction is difficult because you can't know exactly where to correct on the surface of the eye and also the healing process causes some variation.... very mixed!

Yet my surgeon said it should be no problem BUT he said don't come to me and complain if any of the standard side effects happen - which is fair.

Logan, hey man i know its super frustrating. I have talked with my dr. My eye actually with my Symphoy edof in the right. eye sees great at a distance, but when I watch tv it is a little fuzzy. but within 3 feet it is terrible. Then my left eye which has a tecnis multifocal add +2.75 i can only see good at around 15-18" then its gone till about 15' so in saying all of this my eyes when trying to read at arms length i got nothing and when i do move it to about 15" my edof eye makes it almost impossible for my multifocal eye to see. It almost confususes my brain or my edof eyeis so fuzzy it makes my eyes almost feel crossed. So now i bought single vision glasses both lenses at-+0.5 it makes my edof lens eye abe to see a little bit at arms length and makes it tolerable but it takes away some of the distance sharpness. I really want to try the prk on my edof for +0.5 but im then scared i will loose my distance im my eye thats supposed to be for distance. Sorry i know that was a long ramble but leet me know what yall decide. My Dr. said he could a +0.5 but he has made me be on restsasis. Hit me up
