Anyone had major relapse after travelling/ holiday???

I went to America to visit my son in October. I didn't feel that well before I went( but who does with this!). However we are now well into March and I've been so much worse since then. He lives in New Jersey ,so the flights about 7 hrs. I have had red,dry eyes for years( long before I was diagnosed with Fibrom 18 months ago) in America I just completely dehydrated. I looked like an ancient tortoise and my eyes looked like I had a bad case of conjunctivitis . I did my level best to appear normal( as we do) but I felt so ill I just wanted to go home. No matter how much I drank, how many eye drops I used or how much face cream i slathered on it made no difference.

Im upset because I'm almost frightened of going again as I just went down hill afterwards.  Has anyone experienced this? I always feel dehydrated, but this was on a whole new level. I want to be able to go and see my son and grandson, but the symptoms were just awful. ( and still I pretend I'm ok!)

any insights would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Yes, Lynda,

I too have just come back from visiting my son and grandchildren in the UAE.

Same as you I am feeling so dried up,your comment mirrors the way I feel too.

I felt the same way last time I visited....I can only put it down to stress of travelling and pretending I feel ok while there.Eyes and nose so dry,and skin like tortoise (made me laugh)tortoise skin perfect description!

Tomorrow I have to go into hospital for an operation,I am dreading it, as my nerve endings are so sore just now.

Hope you recover soon, maybe treat yourself to a deep skin facial.

Thanks for replying to both of you. Yes I've done all the skin oils, lotions and potions. ...I may feel 90 but I really really object to looking it!!! It is hard to accept sometimes isn't it? I find I'm constantly looking for answers and there doesn't seem to be any.

Hi Lynda. I sympathise with you totally. I'm 64, had fibro for around 10 years. Have travelled to Sharm el Sheikh (5Hrs 30mins) 5 times in 2years and now I'm paying the price. Dry eyes, nausea, skin rash, and feeling totally exhausted, dehydrated  and ill. I last flew in November but still have dreadful reprecussions and relapses.

One thing is certain, I will never be able to fly, or even take a holiday ever again. I'm so sorry for your situation as you need to see your family, but believe me, this condition is a real devil.  Airports and flights are always stressful, I don't think there's any real solution...........

Hi, I'm very sensitive to various medications and supplements. I tried magnesium,I'm OK with the oil but the tablets make me SO tired. Q10 gave me gerd and ( drs don't seem to know why) my B12 levels are well above normal. I have various blood tests that aren't normal, but not yet (!!) " anything to worry about"

Can totally relate to that...I've stopped flighing now...I'm in Australia..so it's nothing  to drive 10-20 hrs..so I just stop every 1/2 hour...I'm ok on the overnight Ferry fromTasmania  where we are..which is a 12. Hour trip as I can go to bed...sooo glad that most of my family are on the mainland and not overseas...it's just awful when your used to plane hopping then all of a sudden you can't...perhaps your family might have to start visiting you??? I do wonder.what's next..be blessed Linda..have a great day..:-) xx
