Anyone had the Rafaelo Procedure

Hi, I have 2 grade 2's and a grade 3 haemorrhoids. A while back I had banding done which failed and then I had a thrombosed haemorrhoid. I am fed up of pushing one back in after a BM and was wondering about the Rafaelo Procedure.

After two bandings (9 months apart) I had the Rafaelo procedure. It has made things much better and zapped two out of three large and persistent prolapsed grade 3 hems. The third is much reduced and can now be successfully banded, so the consultant says.

It did leave a skin tag which will have to be removed surgically (ouch) but that's a relatively minor concern and might have happened anyway.

I would say if you have the opportunity then go for it. Good luck!

Hi Ian - I went through this procedure 3 weeks back, I had two Grade-2 Hemorrhoids, My initial problem was the skin swelling during and post BM around anus (prolapsing hemorrhoids with immediate reduction). In the first week post ops it was fine, but that skin swelling has returned back..did you also face the same thing. I am worried if Hemorrhoids have returned?? Is the skin tagging you referring to is swelling like prolapsing Hemorrhiods?

i had it on the 11th July 2 days pain free then obviously the anaesthetic wore off terrible burning pain especially after BM . The piles dropped off day 16 and i bled a little but hoped that was it. i am still getting burning pain and sometimes wish i hadn't had it but just hoping its taking time to heal.

You are led to believe you get over it quickly and i read someone went jogging after two days ! Just hoping its worth it in the end as i feel miserable at the moment.
