Anyone has success with Zoloft during this time?

I was curious if anyone has taken zoloft to try to help ease these awful symptoms of perimenopause? I have tried antidepressants but quit after a few weeks cause the side effects suck. But i would be willing to stick through it if i knew it would help. When i was taking antidepressants they did help with the gastro symptoms of peri. My main symptoms with this horrible affliction is persistent nausea, loss of appetite, indigestion, lower gut issues with anything i eat, dizzy/faint feeling, intense anxiety/depression especially around ovulation and my period, dry skin, finger joint pain, insomnia or over sleeping, exhaustion, headaches, weakness....the list can go on! i just wish this would stop torturing me, 6 years is far too long already.

My menopause systems have become worse each month. It got to the point that I was having more bad days than good. My dr put me on Sertraline. I've only been taking it for 4 days but have noticed that my anxiety has quieted down. Still fighting the depression though. I am not one to take medications but these symptoms are horrible and wanted to try anything to get rid of them. So far I haven't had any side effects.
I'm praying for better days for all us women going through!!!

Thank you! When i took the zoloft i did notice it helped my anxiety, im pretty sure it takes several weeks to help the depression aspect if it tho 😦 i just wish i could feel like i did at least in my 30s. My periods are so bad now i feel like throwing up tge whole time im on it and i dont even have cramps! its all hormonal, it feels like morning sickness on steriods and i lose my taste!

My periods are not that bad, they last about 4 days. I have one heavy day but that's it. I've never had morning sickness but if this is how it feels than I'm glad I didn't experience it..lol
I'm thankful I found this forum though, all these symptoms I'm having, I thought I was losing my mind.
I will pray things get better for you. 🙂

brandy, so very sad you are suffering.
I wish I had success with zoloft (and other SSRI ant depressant medications), but all of them (ive tried them all!!!) help me not. I got hugely overweight, anxiety not improved, terrible sleep, brain zaps, felt totally off and strange, etc. Too many terrible side effects to list!!. However, we are all unique with meds and perhaps an SSRI can really help you in time. I guess it may be a bit of an experiment? After 3.5 years of different ones I quit SSRI meds. Menopause has dismantled my life. I hoped post menopause would improve it but sadly, no.
I have done every med/therapy/hormone/healthy living type thing on Earth. That is no exaggeration! For me, peri and post menopause is just PURE CRYSTALLINE HELL. I pray you find relief.

Thank you for the reply, I feel the same way!! I have tried everything and the depression and anxiety is the worst on top of the hormone madness! Im just at my wits end, i wish there was a miracle pill that could help us all! I have people telling me "just get a full hysterectomy, then all if your problems are solved" but i see so many women on here past menopause who are as sick as i am so no that wont help and they just dont understand. They all think menopause is just some hot flashes and insomnia cause they sailed through it, if they only knew

right. if they only knew. the suffering we have....im speechless. and that some women sail through is utterly bizarre!! i agree totally that hysterectomy is NOT a solution. how daft! i had people tell me the same thing! a hyster very very often backfires horrifically!! makes me feel contempt that people can be so ignorant of menopause. thats harsh of me, but if they lost their business, ALL their sleep, terrible anx and depression ,100% of wellbbeing, stomach issues, and had a terrible menopause "flu" 24/7 they would be pretty upset too. that is a partiall list of so many women here including me. i bet none of us EVER imagined there is actually no treatment that works for most of us. you have my compassion.

You have my compassion as well! And nope you are not harsh at all your saying it just like it is. I just want to stay in bed and sleep so i dont have to be awake to feel any if it! That is no way for us to live. I see so many people living their lives with smiles on their faces, true nobody is actually completely happy but i would give anything to be in their shoes. Your right its like a menopausal flu that we never get a break from, I will have one day out if the month where i actually feel good and i cry cause it feels so good and i dont want it to end, but then i go to bed and wake up to the same hell over and over. When i think back to my teens thru early 30s i tell myself that was just a dream i was living and i wish i would have paid better attention and took more advantage of that life

I'm on Sertraline and Alprazolam. What's really helping with my anxiety symptoms I think is Alprazolam. Sertraline, maybe a little bit? But the physical symptoms, I'd say it's the anti anxiety that's really helping.
