I'm not sure what nuts I can eat?

I've been avoiding beef, eating mostly chicken, trying to avoid lots of bad stuff, I was told that diet doesn't really matter when you are on the 5th stage?

    Hi Jamie,

You only have to change your diet if you are told to by your consultant and dietician.  Why would you avoid beef?  If your bloods sugested that you have too much potassium you would amend your diet as per advice, the fact you haven't been told to avoid foods would suggest at this time you are ok.  Changing your diet and leaving foods out unless you are specifically told to do so is dangerous.  I would avoid salt and deffinately avoid the salt substitute lo salt eat 5 a day and do nothing else unless your consultant tells you to, then you will be fine.

    Take care

Helens right, only if the dietician says so, but there are obvious bead foods like salt. I'd avoid dark sodas (coke, diet coke, Dr.pepper etc) as they are high in phosphates. I have to take Sevelemar which is a phosphate binder.

Jamie, the others are right, you do need to seek advice from a good consultant or dietitican.  However, I believe that too much protein should be avoided with troubled kidneys.  But do get professional advice. I wish you well.
