I don't know if I should take an antidepressant to taper off xanax or not,every doctor I have seen wants me to take Lexapro during taper and to replace the med for the anxiety med,I have taken anxiety med daily as prescribed for 10 years. my dr. retired,with this pandemic I'm a mess,don't want to taper off now.

This very typical. I personally don't feel antidepressants are effective for anxiety. I have begun taking Prozac as I'll be tapering a benzo shortly. I dont mind taking Prozac as its one of the easiest to get off of. My doctor uses the Ashton Method. I'm thrilled with this so if he wants me to take an antidepressant I will. I trust him.
