Anyone have constant heartburn? I'm scared...

Hi...I have been taking omeprazole and ranitidine for reflux for the past few months, but for the past week the burning in my chest won't go -

Even though I'm taking my meds. I'm using gaviscon too which sometimes eases it up but the burning is still there faintly. Has anyone else had this? My doctor has referred me for a gastroscopy but I'm so scared this constant burning is a sign of something sinister. My anxiety is going through the roof.

You have tipical heart burn -  Medications could help symptoms but your best option is to eat healthy, less acidic foods.  Are you waiting 3 hours after eating to lay back?  You are already taking 3 medications, so you need to address the cause and not the symptoms to get better.

Yes I get this it can go on for weeks sometimes it's if I've eaten a trigger good but I mostly eat healthy but sometimes I get it for now reason I've had camra downtwice was told I make to much acid because of stress so if I was you I would try to relax a little because if will make it worse

For sure stress is a factor, I can testify to that. ;-)

I know how you feel three weeks into protonix, I began getting burning from throat to stomach....Before meds didn't have burning, ..other symptoms...

Had an Endoscopy 6 weeks, I had anxiety, still do.Found gastritis and esophagitis....which had for years..take zantac..no response..still investigating..

When you get the procedure, you can then put it behind you...feel better maria

Hi Di4677 my name is Leslie I am 59 years old and I live in upstate New York I had the same symptoms as you at one time I was taking anti reflux meds and I had an upper and lower GI done as well I really had greds bad so I had the Nissan fundoplication surgery I was doing great  for seven to eight months I was off my anti reflux meds eating and drink anything I like then in June some of my symptoms return so I made an oppointment with my ENT doctor to see if he could help me but he said that there wasn't much he could do but to go back to the surgeon that did the surgery I told him I try    making an oppointment with but his office help said he is out of the office and they did not know when he will return or he is book up some doctor huh so my ENT sent me to a new chest surgeon and after he sent me for the usual tests and after he got the reports back is showed that the surgeon that did the fundoplication surgery on me last year he did the the warp way way too tight for it had slip and give me an new hernia as well so my new doctor who I get along great with he is kind caring and takes the time to listen to what the patient has to say and he want to do his best to try to help you the best way possible so this Wednesday of this week he is taking me back to surgery the first thing he is going to do is to undo the warp remove old scar tissues make a new warp put in a mesh and a feeding tube which he is going to remove three days after surgery I will spend five to seven days in the hospital then I will be on liquids for about two weeks then soft than slowly back to a normal diet once again the surgery I'm having this Wednesday is called a redo Nissan fundoplication surgery but I wish you all the luck in the world on your up coming test and I hope everything turns out all right for you so take care and God bless very truly yours Leslie
