Hi Leslie, I've been admitted as an emergency twice, both with serious Sepsis.  Each time upon admission I was in pretty serious shape, especially the 1st  time!  Last 1 was last November!

I believe my 1st 1 in 2015 was started as a sinus infection then  went to the Urinary System! Man was I sick, the infection had already gotten into my blood stream so the Dr's had to move quickly.  I was very delirious,  saw bugs all over the floor and wasn't making much sense at all.

I got admitted into the Hospital much quicker last November so some of the symptoms were just starting to show!

This is an extremely seriously infection that you can die from within a couple of days!   You have to be extremely aware of your body with the #1 symptom being a jump in blood sugar.  Mine went all the way up to 33 and couldn't get it down!  Once my infection was under control I was put on Insulin and I sure wasn't mentally prepared for that!

I believe that it took a month or 2 to get the sugars way down!

When the Active  Internal Medicine group came to talk to me, before I went home, they layed all the information down for me!   Man, was I ever scared, you really can die within such a short span.  They said my chances deteriorate greatly as I had it twice within 15 months!

I watch my blood sugars, keep tract of any signs that I may be starting an infection.  The family has to watch if I'm acting or talking Sensibly, good luck to them!

Last April I was just beginning an infection, I was immediately put on oral antibiotics,  luckily they started to kick in just as I was starting to talk to people who weren't there, drove my family nuts!

I feel extremely lucky that we caught the 3rd episode as the Specialist said, 1st time usually treatable  if in hospital in time!  2nd time chances aren't Good!  3rd time he mumbled something,  shook his head and Left!   I had no doubt in my mind what he meant!

Sorry this is so long,  I cut out alot of stuff but this is 1 very  serious infection where many don't make It!    You take care of yourself, feel free to ask any questions!   Good luck Susan

Do you have any messenger so we can talk more about it... ? You mean to say you got diabetic after sepsis?

Sorry Leslie, I have emailed someone before but I don't remember how we did it, do you know?

I had diabetes for several years before the Sepsis!   Since the infection was so bad we couldn't get my sugars down below 20,  33 was the worst!

They decided last November that I had became Insulin resistant.  I had a 20 minutes session to teach me how to give myself my 4 needles!  They were short beds and so I  was discharged with appointments for the Diabetes Clinic!  I'm still not totally sure of myself as that's a huge Step!   I have been doing well until recently, so much going on!

I will see if I can email you!?  Susan
