Hi I'm living in Dublin and having had a hysterectomy 7 weeks ago have been diagnosed with LS. I never had symptoms before and it only kicked off after the operation. I'm in a bad way with burning and I'm very distressed as I've also got a family to look after , and as a lone parents it's hard. I would really appreciate and help. Thanks in advance

Hello, I am so sorry that you have to go through this. I have been recently diagnosed with LS and at first, I was angry, frightened and almost to the point of depression. Unlike you, I am alone, meaning I have no one to take care if, but me. Did your doctor precribe Clob? Also, you need to keep your genital area moisturized. I use Emu oil (purchased from Amazon) or coconut oil. You should use after going to the bathroom. I use either Dove for sensitive skin or Ivory soap for bathing. I have a great support system, but I am also seeing a counselor, too. Seems like I have other issues that need to be addressed, besides LS. You have to try and keep stress under control (I know all to well how hard this can be), but I have read that stress can make the condition worse. Oh, one more thing. I soak my private parts in a mixture of bicarbonate and water. That really helps on the days where I have some irritation. I apologize for this long post, but it is because of this forum, that I know how to take care of myself. There are some wonderful people in this group. I am sending you a hug 🤗from the U.S. and pray that you are able to manage this condition.

Hi Trisha, so sorry you are suffering with LS and recovering from your hysterectomy at the same time. I can sympathize, because I had to have a total abdominal hysterectomy October last year, due to pre-cancer, and discovered white skin and fusing around the perineum earlier this year. I think the operation/stress to the body, low hormones etc probably brought on my LS. Anyway, I can't help regarding a specialist in Ireland, I'm in Cornwall, but glad I was sent to a Dermatology Consultant at the Vulval clinic, even though my appointment was a 4 month wait here. I'm on Clobetasol steroid ointment, oestrogen cream and emollients. The dosages were given to me by the specialist. In addition to these, I've had great success with borax solutions. There are threads on here about this treatment, or I can tell you how I use it myself. Also oils are helpful, coconut, emu, rosehip, olive etc. For me, I was only diagnosed last month, but the white skin and fusing is improving for now. I believe in an holistic approach to this condition, and am listening to healing music/affirmations, using jade roller on my vulvar etc, but everyone must do what is right for them. Wishing you well x

See a gyn. Have had 10 yrs now and so does my adult daughter. We are both hypothyroid!
The only thing I noticed just recently, I went on a ketogenic diet last March and recently realized I only had one slight attack in the last 4 months. Makes me wonder about carbs and sugar. Worth releasing them from my diet. I am feeling better now so I will continue with this diet. Worth it for now, even if it was an accident to lose weight on Keto diet! 2 winners!

hi Trisha, I see a consultant in Vincents hospital. Just it takes a time to get referred etc. I see her once a year.. Have had this for a good few years and am in my 30s...She prescribed me Clob.I don't like using it but it def keeps things under control..I currently use it twice weekly.. Found Angelas comments completely accurate. Tried the coconut oil for general moisturising and baking soda if swollen and inflamed. Helped so much. I'm a little anxious as am now in early stages of pregnancy and not too sure how ls is going to affect me..if anyone has any tips please holler. Take care all and mind yourselves.

Hi. Thanks for the message. I hope your symptoms ease up in pregnancy. My gp referred me to see someone and I got a letter this morning. The app is for September and a private app. She told me there's a years waiting list for a public app. I'm so upset. My life is on hold. I can't believe the wait time for this horrible disease

hi. i have found aqueous cream to be great for washing and reducing itch at night.
I'm waiting for a biopsy (multiple 😥) next month.
I'm seeing a gynea in st james gynecology oncology department.
ive had one consultation so far.
but im quite annoyed as i saw a different gynea last year, privately, about a separate issue. she mentioned LS but didn't give me any cause for concern at that time, didn't ask if i was being treated, or tell me that i should. a year later and im looking at several biopsies under general anaesthesia because of the number of biopsies my consultant wants to take.
