Anyone NOT had any side effects on Citalopram?

Posted , 526 users are following.

Hi there,

After much deliberation, talking to just about anyone I could find and generally scouring the internet for information, I have decided to go with the Docs advice and take Citalopram, starting today. And then I found this site....

Has anyone NOT had any side effects on this? It is making me feel very worried about taking it. Am I just going to have to sit tight and presume the worst? Are there people who take it and dont feel nauseous and tired or even worse to begin with?

I would really appreciate any comments.

Thanks

M

Afternoon all.  Hope everyone is doing OK and looking forward to the long Easter weekend!

Day 7 on 30mg for me, and I had been doing pretty good up until today.  This morning it was a major struggle to just get out of bed, and even after I was up I sat for over an hour before I could muster the strength to get up and start doing anything.  It was not as bad as I have been in the past, but it has set me up badly for the day and it's been a struggle getting work done or anything else to be honest.  Bit gutted to be feeling like this today, but am trying to tell myself it's just a blip and tomorrow will be better.  Fingers crossed!

    Take care all.

After 2 weeks I've been back to the docs, they've upped my dosage to 20mgs.

still strange tho, as I'm still waiting for some sort of reaction.

i know there isn't a magic cure, but plz tell me that I will feel something soon!...

just oust to add to the previous posts, this new layout is confusing as I'm confused

    Morning all

Day 23 for me, am generally feeling much better - yesterday was a bit of a down day but i think it was because i had a doctors appointment in the morning which made me a bit unsettled.

Right here goes bit of an unpleasant topic however just wanted a little bit of feedback, i still have diahoreah in the mornings and am going more often than i was before starting on cit, the doctor has said to take imodium and that it will settle down, have also been told that too much caffiene, smoking to much and the anxiety itself will make me go more often and looser (sorry for too much info!).

Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this? the only side effects i have are the not the sleeping/restless legs and the toilet issue, everything else has settled now, and i am generally feeling much better in myself.

      Hi everyone,

Not sure about this new layout at all. anyway thank you all so much for your support and wishes for my MRI scan, so glad its all over and Yes Chris my dragon has been slayed,

Hey Paul when is the Wedding ?? you will be grand there are always hitches but things usually come together in the end so dont worry just deep breath keep calm and have fun, yes the glitches do make us think we are going mad but we are NOT its just our brains tricking us but we are better as we know that, and can make it through. stay strong xx

Hey Mo good to have you back, we have missed you too, glad your doing well, however things can seem a bit flat at times but they will improve, chat to your doctor see if you meybe need an increase or CBT or just group chats which really help, I have just finished a course called Lifestyle management, thru my doctor and it was really good. check out anything that can help lol

so glad your problem has been sorted as one less worry for you too.

Well done Amy I knew you could do it, and its great your feeling better, ur so much improved, and thats all down to you. I took Dyoralyte when I had that issue, and it worked a treat, you can buy in the chemist over the counter, hopefully your sleep will settle too, I gave up caffeine altogether do you think u could try that?? or try not to have any after 5pm cut down on the cigs as well if possible?? try not to watch TV or be on a computer for an hour before going to bed, then deep breathing while counting in and out while in bed helped me get my sleep paterns back. xx

      Hey Chris

So glad thats over now ha ha just got to wait on the results now, but what will be will be. The weather is great isnt it, hopefully that will cheer everyone up, and its lovely to have good weather for the girls school holidays,  I misunderstood I thought you were back working at the school, but thanks for making it clear, well done you, getting back into the schools etc after your retirment as sometimes its easy to stop doing stuff you love. So glad your feeling better and everyday is another day towards it settling for you, you have been in pain for so long now you deserve a break.

You will get back to normal and Cit is great for getting there, your on a very low dose and should speak with your doctor about increasing slowly, I started on 10mg then went to 20mg

Hey G many thanks for the good wishes, sorry to hear your not having a good week, I feel you are getting there now though and just need to be strong a little longer, try the deep breathing at bad times especially, and try alternate positive thinking so you can calm yourself. its difficult just now but soon it will all be in the past, I promise.cool

Hey Mike, and everyone whom doubts their relationships

Thats part of the anxiety, having doubts etc its just your brain toying with you, this will go, I had this but not at all now. so stay strong you will get there and all will be back to normal.

      Ally,

sounds like you are improving which is great, well done on been so strong and its so good to share with someone whom knows exactly what your going thru so it was good to be able to share with your friend xx will look into the mindfullness bell App thanks  smile

      Hi Loulyn

Yes I believe this is the CIT, I had it and I also had lockjaw, but its gone now so it must just go away, but it used to give me a headache too just the grinding pressure etc, but defo gone now. Maybe the guard will save your teeth just now but you will only need it for a short while,

      inthewoods,

Hope your doing well and improving xx

Beco hope your improving and that hubbys shoulder is healing, hope you are coping with all the extra work while supporting him, if not ask for help, its only temporary, stay strong and let us know how your doingsmile have a fab Easter Weekend, quiet day for everyone over there today !!!

      Nat

I went from 10mg to 20mg with little or no side effects everyone is different but be strong and be good to yourself you deserve it we all do.

      Dougie,

I hope this is just a blip for you, try to give up the caffine to see if it helps. hopefully this lovely weather has made you and everyone feel better,

      Mike

Stay strong 20mg is much better than what you were taking 10mg is only a weaning in amount really, I know that now as its what I started on but was terrified at the start, now I know I was terrified due to the anxiety mostly, and you like everyone else will get there, just stay strong, this forum is so supportive look at everyone that updates and they are sharing their experiences with you and recently there is lots of good news updates which is amazing,

Hi everyone, I've had a good few days, but constantly socialising with various family which has been quite hard work. I had a glass of wine last night and I feel more anxious and tired today, even a bit lightheaded. Has anyone else found this on 30 mg? Xx

Thanks Anne - so it is day 5 on 20 mg and my sleep is now returning to "normal".  I have not noticed sude effects except a slight headache and my chest pains seem to be lessening.  Thank goodness.  2 ecgs later and really worried that these pains in my chest were my heart wink.

It seems to have been a blip as 10mg is not enough and I am hoping this is the upward curve.  I am doing lots of reading about anxiety and bought a book about Anxiety and CBT which is really informative and has lots of good positive exercises to do.

      Wishing you all wellsmile

Really dont get the new format - can we all see what we all post?

Not sure how to see all posts Nat, I have sent feedback so will see if they reply,

So glad your on the up, thats wonerful news, yes health anxiety is awful, I thought I had alsorts never away form the doctor, all gone now. and I only suffered the slight headache too with the increase, so thats great. so glad ur sleep is returning too, as this will help you get better in general,, CBT helped me and its a life long tool too, its good to read about it as we havent a clue before it starts, and its good to understand it, especially from woneone whom has had it.

Take care and stay strong you are on the road back to your old self, xxx

      Hi Nat,

I read your post and I thought you had chest pains after eating 2 easter eggs biggrin I've only just realised you had 2 ECG's ... oops! redface

What book do you have? I started CBT last week and I was recommended to get Overcoming Health Anxiety by Rob Willson & David Veale. Just wondered if that was the one you had? I'm going to order it off the net, the price varies from £7.00 to £28.00 for the same book!!

The new format sucks eh rolleyes
