Anyone NOT had any side effects on Citalopram?

Posted , 526 users are following.

Hi there,

After much deliberation, talking to just about anyone I could find and generally scouring the internet for information, I have decided to go with the Docs advice and take Citalopram, starting today. And then I found this site....

Has anyone NOT had any side effects on this? It is making me feel very worried about taking it. Am I just going to have to sit tight and presume the worst? Are there people who take it and dont feel nauseous and tired or even worse to begin with?

I would really appreciate any comments.

Thanks

M

Well here goes Loulyn well done for working it out as we are all missing each others posts,

    Hi Mo

Great to hear form you and that your doing so well !!!! you sound so positive it is truly lovely to hear, and thanks for your very kind comments, do stay in touch to let us know how your doing, and its fab if you could offer your support too as there are so many folk especially newbys that need to know it works, and get encouragment  smilexx

Mike, dont worry about OH, if your doctor says your ready then they will do a phased return for you, employers and OH are there to support you, and if you think they are not then keep a diary and see how you feel down the line once you are better. but for now concentrate on getting well and getting your life back together.

    inthewoods

hope things are improving for you today, if not stay strong as it will get better again. xx

    Hi Amy

How are you doing today, even better I hope stay strong. xxx

Hi Doug, hope your feeling more upbeat, it does take time to settle, if you feel you need an increase after another few weeks, then u should discuss with the doctor, u may need a higher dose, everyone is so different, but we all want the same thing in the end, back to a normal happy confident person !!!!

    Hey Chris,

Hope your doing well and have had a great Easter, and that your pain has lessened, and hopefully the tinnitus will have as well, I have a follow up appointment in a couple of weeks at audiology, but I know theres nothing they can do however I will still attend, hopefully this will post the old way ha ha

Beco, thinking of you, hope you have had a good Easter and your hubby is recovering well, please remember to ask for help if you need it, stay strong you are a brilliant woman, look how far you have come and how you are coping with everything. take care and keep in touch xxxx

Rick Matilda and Spence how are you all doing not sure if ye have updated and your posts have got lost or you are all doing well and living the good life. I hope it's cause ye are all feeling better. xx

Hi Anne!!! Yes I endeavour to stay on here! Thanks, its good to feel like me again. Saw the doc yesterday and I am staying on 20mg for six months or so and then will see....

Are we doing these posts differently now?! I agree it is rather confusing.....

Hope you are well Anne? I saw Eastenders too and it was incredibly sad but made me give my daughter a extra big hug and kiss this morning!

      Have a good day

      xx

      Hi Mo,

Yes my doctor has told me to stay on the 20mg for 6 months which will be next month, but I feel I need to stay on them for longer, dont want to go back to that place  sad !!!! so will see what she thinks end of May stretch it out ha ha,

about the posts if you want to reply to one person only then just click reply on the post, but if you want to do it like it always was and post in succession where everyone can read you post then post in the space at the top of the page saying reply to M68 which was the person to start this thread, its always at the top, then your post will go to the bottom of the page in succession of everyone else posting, (just like before really) Loulyn worked it out, and its much better.

Yes Eastenders was so sad, and ur right to give an extra big hug and Kiss to ur daughter, enjoy her every day.

      take care xx

      Anne smile xx

Hehe Anne, just glad to see it's working, now we just have to remember to do it that way, it's very tempting to reply to someone on their post, I almost did that just now redface Back to reality with that weather today, who would have believed it, I had to buy a body warmer today as I was freezing to the bone in a summer jacket mad

Apologies to anyone who is still feeling a bit down if I've been p*ssing you off with my daft sense of humour in some of my previous posts ....... I just feel so damn HAPPY! and I want you all to know that there is a big bright shiny light at the end of that long dark tunnel and you WILL get there wink I wouldn't have believed that myself 6 weeks ago, so PLEASE hang on in there. If it wasn't for certain people on this site (you know who you are wink) I would have packed in on week 2 or 3 so heartfelt thanks for your encouraging support.

Sending you all golden slumbers & a peaceful night,

    Love Loulyn x

      Hi Loulyn

I havent been on here for a while so I am not up to speed with your posts but just wanted to say that like yourself, I am feeling very happy too! (12 weeks now!) and I agree there is light at the end of the tunnel. I think its important to have a sense of humour!

I agree also that the encouragement from people on the forum is amazing. I think it took me around 8 weeks to get there!

The sun is shining today so you can wear your summer jacket?!!!

      Take care, Mo. x

      Hey Mo,

I love that you feel so happy too biggrin It's a great feeling after all the months of thinking your going nuts eh lol.  I love how, after a long time of, well I suppose you could call it a bit of OCD as I have to go around the house checking everything's switched off maybe 3 or 4 times when I go out and at bedtime. But now I feel much more relaxed about it and instead of doubting myself I can now just tell myself I've checked that and walk away. It's so liberating cool

Long may it continue babe wink CIT might even be the new chocolate! Naw .... cancel that ..... it's good but it's not THAT good LOL razz

Keep that sunny smile honey biggrin

      Love Loulyn x

    Hi Mo,

It's great to read such an ecourgaing post! I've been on CIt since Jan, and I've had lots of ups and downs. I increased from 20-30 last Friday so nearly a week in, and I'm feeling kind of flat, and grumpy. Did you go through this phase before you felt much happier? X

  • Posted

    Hi Inthewoods4.

I started at end of Jan on 10mg and increased to 20mg after six weeks, now on 12th week. I really do think we are all different and when i increased to 20mg it still took a few weeks to really feel better so yes I still felt flat after the increase. Give it a few more weeks as if you are only a week in on 30mg it is still early days on that dosage?

Keep in touch and stay positive smile

Hi Anne, got the hang of this now i think! smile

Thanks Mo, I really hope the increase does the trick this time! The anxiety seems to have gone, but I'm left feeling pretty down in the dumps/flat. I think the problem is that I analyse everything I feel and can't quite remember what I was like before! X

    Hi Everyone

Finally managed to get on a computer!, have worked out how to read posts from my phone however have no idea how to reply.

Loulyn, you definately dont need to apologise for being happy, its encouragement for everyone else and i love reading your posts especially if im having a bit of a down moment they really cheer me up! little man is fine now he just has a little bit of a yellow bruise left now - i did still have to sign a form this morning when i took him to preschool to say he hadnt done it at school!.

Anne, im good thank you, the sunshine totally missed us over the weekend we had lots of rain and wind however its sunny today and so am i! off to the allotment later once little man has finished preschool to do some more digging and planting with my mum - being out in the fresh air doing something makes me feel so much better than sitting around doing nothing, i have even made a start on my front garden which i normally hate doing, its tiny but gets covered in weeds.

Doug - good to see you back on here, was missing your posts, sorry your not having a great time, but hopefully will settle soon.

Tasha - hope your doing ok? not seen any posts from you or i may have missed them since the new layout

Spence - good to see your back on here too

Everyone i have missed - mums computer is now on a go slow so cant find other posts evil

Update on me - now starting day 29 and feeling much better, im still a little bit shaky in the mornings but it soon passes, no imodium for 3 days so thats made me feel a lot better! sleep has improved aswell although last night was a bit unsettled due to my little boy saying he felt sick and asking for a bowl after dinner last night cry normally if he was going to be sick there was no warning he would just puke wherever he was! however he had a little bit of an easter bunny and said he didnt like it (think it was too sweet for him), it was shortly after this he said he felt sick, i had a moment (bit panicky he was coming down with sicky bug - my initial anxiety was all about my little boy being poorly - however it passed after a couple of minutes), anyway he wasnt sick but i think it was just playing on my mind during the night, also today is his first day back at preschool since being off for easter and before they broke up for the holidays hubby or my mum had been taking him as i was feeling so awful, woke up- this morning with a little bit of a nervous tummy, however was great being back in my routine - kids up - cup of tea - breakfast - dressed - packed lunch done - and off to school, without any help from hubby or mum cheesygrin

Quick question for anyone whos been on cit longer than 4 weeks, has anyone found when they have picked up there next prescription its been a different brand, i picked mine up last thursday and when i got home realised the box was different and its manufactured by a different company, has anyone else had this, i spoke to the pharmacist yesterday and she said it just depends which company they are using at the time as to what brand it is, but everything in them is exactly the same, i guess im just wondering if anyone has experienced side effects returning from using a different brand - although at the same time i guess its just like buying paracetamol, the box if different depending on where you get it from??

Well enough waffle from me - off to do little ladies lunch

Hope your all having a great day

    Anne,

Forgot to say have managed to cut down to three cups of tea and two coffees in the morning and then switched to hot fruit squash throughout the afternoon and one cup of tea at 6.30 whilst putting little ones to bed, vast improvement on what i was having before - i would be near on 20 cups of tea/coffee in one day.

Am working on cutting down the smoking too :-)
