Anyone NOT had any side effects on Citalopram?

Hi there,
After much deliberation, talking to just about anyone I could find and generally scouring the internet for information, I have decided to go with the Docs advice and take Citalopram, starting today. And then I found this site....
Has anyone NOT had any side effects on this? It is making me feel very worried about taking it. Am I just going to have to sit tight and presume the worst? Are there people who take it and dont feel nauseous and tired or even worse to begin with?
I would really appreciate any comments.
Thanks
M

They do say it can take up to 6 weeks for the full benefits of the cit to kick in, keep strong and positive
My new mantra is to be kind to myself and stop having too high expectations as I tend to want to help everyone and not put myself first. This illness has made me stop and take stock and realise I want to be well for my kids and husband and for me.
I think i am going to learn how to meditate

I do understand what you mean. I was knocked sidewards by how I felt and kept going back to the docs as the side effects were awful and finding this forum kept me going as i was reading how people were coming thru to the other side.
How much are you taking and for how long now? I am 10mg and about day 20 XX

Went back to doctor today she said i could increase to 30 if I wanted but I am going to try not to for now. I think we all just want it to be a few months in the future don't we x

Ally, what a day! and congratulations on doing all that. You must be a golfer then? The Masters should be good next week and maybe we'll all feel better by then.
Nat and Matilda... its weird those of us first time around on this having few initial side effects but the second time they are mean. I need to find some explanation for this. Or maybe we are expecting too much too soon, who knows?
Oh Matilda, Masterchef was boring! thanks for asking though :-)

Had a catch up with my doc after 5 weeks.
Reckons its only had a partial effect on my depression so upped my
Dose to 30mg. Hope the early side effects don't return :0(

I'm not having a great day today, feel a bit spaced out and I've got a headache. Just been out in the car and was nearly sick. Also Rick I've chipped one of my back teeth eating my cereal this morning!

Matilda - sorry to hear you're not having a good day. It's so demoralising the improvement then the worsening of symptoms. It seems to be a real peaks and troughs thing .... they will even out though. Hope you feel better as the day goes on
Damn, maybe it has detrimental effect talking here on your teeth! I hope it's not too sensitive. One thing, when you go to get it treated, ask your dentist for adrenalin free anaesthetic (we have 2 or 3 that are) as the adrenaline will adversly affect any anxiety. By the way, Masterchef was again crap last night (I'm forced into watching it!), I reckon I could get on there and do a very very impressive scrambled egg. On a positive note, I did have some appetite and managed to demolish a bag of caramel popcorn (nothing like practising what I preach eh?!) which will hopefully help me gain a bit of the weight I've lost due to the Citalopram.
Today is ok for me. I woke shaking a bit as usual which is just plain weird but felt pretty calm for a couple of hours then had a weak spell again. Frustrating ... very very frustrating. Hopefully today will be ok but I can't bring myself to say I feel better as usually it gets worse again. Maybe though ... a bit better!
Anyone listen to music to make themselves feel better/more positive? There are a couple of songs that make me feel stronger (for want of a better word) .... "Good Feelin" by Flo Rida and "Heroes" by Bowie. Sounds stupid maybe and not to everyones tastes I'm sure but anything that helps is a good thing in my book.
Take care all and I hope Saturday is kind to you
Rick

Hi Matilda. I will keep everyone posted thanks for showing interest. I also feel very low today after an
Encouraging few days. It's like my emotions can't cope with seeing my partner who I only see at weekends
I usually come round by Sunday pm when we don't have much time left in the weekend
Frustrating !!

I'm at the tail end of week 4 on 10 mg & have some quite good days this week with the anxiety lifting a good bit. This morning I feel hellish
I woke in a sweat for the first time, I know a lot of you have experienced this, & it's happened again twice since. My head is pounding, not helped by the fact I also have an inflamed nerve in my left temple.
I've to see the doc on Monday about increasing to 20 mg but I'm sure he will stall it a bit as it's also the day I go back to work after being off 10 weeks after an operation.
The way I feel today has put me right off increasing
I just needed to get this off my chest, thanks guys for listening to this old moaner
