Anyone NOT had any side effects on Citalopram?

Hi there,

After much deliberation, talking to just about anyone I could find and generally scouring the internet for information, I have decided to go with the Docs advice and take Citalopram, starting today. And then I found this site....

Has anyone NOT had any side effects on this? It is making me feel very worried about taking it. Am I just going to have to sit tight and presume the worst? Are there people who take it and dont feel nauseous and tired or even worse to begin with?

I would really appreciate any comments.

Thanks

M

    Hi Nikkie

Having spent 15 odd years on venlafaxine and spending 6 months of hell coming off them, due to gp not wanting to give them to me, this citalopram is a breeze...taking it slowly, started on 10mg, now on 20mg which will probably increase in the coming months.... I felt quite sick in the morning till I realised the tablet was supposed to be taken at night... other than that all ok so far.....keep on in there, and just remember if it doesn't work or side effects are too much, ....there is a whole load of others to try... that is why i was on the venlefaxine so long, it had the least side effects for me and it worked....until I had to come off them ( but this is well documented for venlefaxine) Other half had citalopram a few years ago for IBS and stopped taking them no problem

    take care lizzie

      Hi Lizzie

I started on 10mg a week ago and now up to 20mg. I wasn't told when to take it but have just been taking it first thing in the morning. I haven't felt sick but should I be taking it in the evening instead?

So glad I found this forum, nice to know I'm not alone!

Hi April, I take it about 6 pm every night and have no trouble sleeping now, however the first week I did not sleep well then adjusted. Is fine now. Just wake up with terrific morning anxiety. Did Citalopram help you to feel better overall the last time you took it? I have been on for nearly 7 weeks and still not feeling very good. Anxiety, ear ringing and just feeling unwell overall. Sure hope some improvement soon.

      Hi,

Just seen your message. Yes I started it, been in it about 10 weeks now and I have to say that it's made such a positive difference. 😀 Had a strange first few days but I feel so much better and difference was noticed by my husband and close friends pretty quickly.
