Anyone on bioidentical hormones?

Posted , 9 users are following.

I am 4 months off period, 53 years old. Very painful-multi symptom peri, but now it is getting worse. Severe allergies, headaches-mainly in the back of my head, phlegm-tons and tons in my sinuses and ears, dizziness daily, insomnia and now vertigo. I react badly to drugs, but I am interested in bioidenticals now. The quality of my life is zero right now and Iam looking into alternatives. Any experience with bioidenticals ladies?

I have been on bioidentical hormones since March and haven't noticed much difference. I started taking them to try to help the dizziness. I thought it might be helping a it, but this last injection I am feeling the dizziness quite a bit...plus I now have terribly oily skin and pimples, and hair growing where women shouldn't have hair. I wouldn't mind as much if the hormones were actually helping.. but now I feel like I have more wrong than before. It is also very expensive since insurance doesn't cover it.

You had the dizziness too? I ve been having it for 4 years, at first during allergy season, now it seems it is going to be in winter too. In my opinion it is chronic ear inflamation with fluid. Unfortunately I cannot take antihistamines, since they have bad side effects on me. It seems that postmenopause made the allergies worse=so I kinda thought that maybe restoring some estrogen would help. Just desperate. My hair stopped growing and got really dry, just falls of and becomes shorter. I am sorry that he hormones are not working for you. Have you had any bad side effects from them/

    Hi anetta

I've used bhrt twice and both times felt fabulous. I was on sandrena gel 1.0mg, 100mg utrogestan and a bit of testogel. I only changed to synthetic hrt as my symptoms started back up again. Xx

Hi! I'm taking it you mean compounded HRT? It's actually different to bioidentical HRT which is FDA approved (I'm guessing you're in the US). Products such as Vivelle Dot, Sandrena gel, Divigel, Climara etc are all actually bioidentical. There are very few synthetics still around these days.....

    Hi Anetta,

I've been on bio identical hormones for over 4 years. Started on compounded creams first and now I'm on pellets. I've never looked back. Best decision I made for my health and happiness. I'm over 4 years post menopause and I feel my life is back. A good doctor that fully understands hormone replacement is key. One that takes the time to run labs and goes over everything with you in terms you can understand so you know how it all works. Some women are more confused after getting on hormone replacement and meeting with their doctor and that shouldn't be the case if your with a qualified doctor. I really believe hormone replacement can have different outcomes when doctors are chosen that haven't taken the time to fully educate themselves , which more likely will not have positive outcomes. It usually means a change of doctors.
